It's hard to say how the new racks will affect my riding. So I settled on an OEM replacement (no height or handling adjustments) with a better name (Bilstein) to get a nice hand ride with a legendary control margin when needed. But it didn't work for me. A pillars were purchased for tundra 2011 sr5 cab 4wd. I was trying to fix a creaking up front that turned out to be NOT my original struts. I ended up replacing the excellent racks with these Bilsteins. But I wasn't worried as Bilstein has always been the best strut/shock absorber replacement on all my other cars over the years. But in this case the OEMs were better matched than these Bilsteins. It wasn't a simple shock setup. The dealer had to remove the coil springs to install these struts. I installed the rear kit myself, pretty easy to install. On my Tundra, these Bilsteins were rampant and delivered an annoying choppy ride. My old Toyota nitrogen OEM shocks provided a controlled and less choppy off-road ride that was more tuned to the 2011 Tundra. It doesn't need more. I am convinced that these Bilstein luggage racks will cope well with any full-load situation, . So if you're always pushing your limits and towing loads on trailers or doing a lot of off-road driving, that's fine. But for normal freeway driving, they offer an annoyingly harsh, choppy ride. Too bad I haven't changed. CONCLUSION: These stays offer a stiffer ride than my original nitrogen stays. I got this result for the first time with Bilstein. The rear shock absorbers have also been swapped out for matching Bilsteins to get the full Bilstein effect. Given the annoyingly choppy ride, I'd happily use a different set of Toyota OEM nitrogen struts/shocks that were better tuned and better designed for my particular Tundra model. EARN 3 = STARS.
