Review on Ergonomic Lace Crochet Hook Set For Fine Thread Crafts - 10 Small Hooks (0.5~2.75Mm) by Ryan Hadden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good crochet hooks.

These are surprisingly nice crochet hooks for the money. They are good enough quality for most people, and certainly for beginners. In fact, on one item I am working on now, the crochet thread splits very easily, and I found these hooks go through more easily, with less splits, than with the Clover hook I had started with. That may be because the tip on these hooks is narrower than a Clover hook (it is the throat, not the tip, that determines the size of a crochet hook and the size of the stitches). The only thing I am not thrilled with is the narrow thumb rest. I wish the thumb rests were just a bit wider.I own over 40 sets of crochet hooks, so I was not expecting too much from these, but I wanted an inexpensive set. I recently traveled to another country, with my flights involving a stop in another country, so I had to go through security in each. Both wanted to throw away a set of very expensive crochet hooks, saying they were a security risk.Yeah, because there is nothing more terrifying than the sight of a five-foot-tall, 71-year-old woman with a crochet hook.So I wanted an inexpensive set for travel should I encounter another overly zealous agent. These will work just fine. The sizes run from 2.75mm (the old U.S. size 1) to 0.5mm (U.S. size 14).Note that the set comes in a plastic holder, which is not convenient for storage.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use and I like that the size is imprinted in plastic so it won't wear off.
Cons
  • Not suitable for bulky yarns
