Review on Schwinn 🚲 Bicycle Training Wheels by Issac Smart

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Didn't last more than 4 months with 4 years of use (under Β£50)

We bought this set from Revain and it came in Schwinn packaging and looked of decent quality. The bearings weren't very good and the wheels didn't turn very well, but we figured they wouldn't slow my baby down because they wouldn't always touch the ground. Installation was fairly easy, but I had to cut some of the plastic chain guard off her bike as the existing cut out from the old wheels (which the previous owner didn't have when we bought the bike) wasn't big enough. I don't blame the wheels for this as that is to be expected from a versatile product. While other reviews said it worked straight away, I didn't have this problem. The first complaint I had with them was that while they fit a 16" bike, they didn't have room to lift the wheels off the ground. As my child becomes more used to riding and less reliant on the training wheels, I calculated the price to just keep them to myself and then solve that problem when the time comes and they need to be raised. Unfortunately, the second complaint denies that. After about four months of almost daily use by my child, who weighs less than fifty kilos, the rubber part of the bike has completely warped on one side and will no longer stay on the bike. That means one side is straight metal and renders the training wheels unusable. Although I tried again to attach the rubber element, there is no way to make it secure and it comes loose after a few hits with the ground. Continued use will quickly bend the metal wheel and may cause a sharp shock. Danger point. I noticed that the metal is bent slightly backwards instead of up like some people have claimed. Also, the wheel is no longer parallel to the metal frame, which could explain why rubber wears faster. Now I have to buy a set of wheels that are made a little better.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Hard to tell
