Review on Insect Lore: Two Cups Caterpillars Kit - The Ultimate Butterfly Growing Experience! by Chase Dunn

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor product for science kits and toys

I have ordered this 5 years in a row (every summer) and the last 3 have not worked. they arrived (which means they shouldn't be sent to me). Most likely they spent their growing days in the dark and trembling. For this reason only 4 settled on the roof of their container, the remaining 6 fell to the ground. From these 10 cocoons I got 3 healthy butterflies. The other 7 were what we called the Frankensteins. Two died hatching, two never developed wings, one never hatched and the other two almost hatched - maybe 65% of a butterfly but with broken wings. It seems that all of this could have been avoided had they been in a healthy caterpillar stage, but we wouldn't know. My order last year had 7 tracks in one can and 8 in another. Same result: they became Frankensteins due to limited resources. Again, this is easy to avoid: don't put 8 caterpillars in a jar and send them off as full-grown caterpillars. Really simple things. There was nothing radically wrong with the order 3 years ago, it's just that we only got 5 butterflies when they guarantee 6. Anyway, my 5-year failure rate is over 50% (what's the value of the warranty if it's not honored most of the time). ?) I complained last year and they didn't acknowledge that something was wrong. They only replied with a voucher. The? Nature is unpredictable, but incompetence is certainly avoidable. If you order this you bet that these things are just for sale without caring about the quality.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Nothing here
