Review on πŸ”Œ Molex 11-03-0044 Accessory Connector Extraction Tool by Leslie Matlak

Great tool; works fine when used properly

When I first used this tool I was able to successfully remove all 30 pins from three Molex connectors in a modified ATX wire harness without the pins or damage the tool. I started with the translucent body connector and removed one of the corner pins; This way I could see from the contact side of the connector when the tool was properly seated. After some practice I switched to opaque plugs. I suggest holding the connector so the rows are horizontal, then inserting the tool from the pin side and making sure the pins are between the pin and the connector body on the left and right sides. One of the pins can easily get into the contact space, in which case the pin will not come free. There is no need to bend the pins, just pull out and reinsert the tool, making sure each pin is positioned correctly. Then insert the tool fully into the slot; This can be helpful to press on the cable instead of the connector body (you can use small pliers on the side of the cable if needed). You'll likely feel the pin release about the last millimeter of travel, then the pin and wire should separate from the connector with light to moderate force. If it doesn't, place one of the long edges of the connector housing against a table edge, make sure the tool is fully inserted, and try to gently pull the wire towards the top and bottom of the connector. This will usually release the pin if it is stuck behind a metal edge other than the retaining clips. In some cases it will be necessary to remove the tool and start over, but it is not necessary to use great force. Otherwise the tool may break or the connector pins may bind.
