Review on Experience Superior Gaming with the VIOTEK GNV34DB2 34 Inch UltraWide Monitor: 3440X1440, 100Hz, Adaptive Sync, HDMI by Ron Khadka

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A great monitor for the price, but with some interesting trade-offs.

Got this thing at a holiday sale for $400. For the stated properties it was pretty good. Good luck finding a 34-inch ultra-wide monitor with these specs for under $600. The stand that came with it is complete junk. Purchase a third-party stand or ergonomic label. The stand has a very strong horizontal wobbling in the fully assembled state and is not designed for this, it must be locked. The mount allows for some up and down adjustment, but it feels pretty flimsy. The screen looks pretty good. I can set it to the full 144Hz and even get G-Sync working on an RTX2080 graphics card. Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing on it (yes I know the game is pretty buggy). There's no built-in USB hub, but that suits me. The included DisplayPort cable seems to work, but I bought a good quality cable specifically designed for the DisplayPort 1.4 specification. The cable that comes with it seems to work, but it's obviously a cheap commercial cable and I've burned myself from those in the past. My only concern is the lack of ventilation at the top of the monitor. There's plenty of venting at the bottom, but the heat rises and I can't tell if there's active cooling, so I'm guessing there isn't. I don't want this thing to go bad from overheating during a long gaming session. For the price, this monitor has performed like a champ so far, despite the trade-offs and issues listed above. If it holds up like it's supposed to, I'll definitely get another one.
