Review on BFGoodrich Advantage 225/55 R17 101Y summer by Boyan Ivanov ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the price and quality are acceptable.

Bought, installed, and rejoiced until the first wet weather! Tires are good for everyone, but even small accumulations of water on the pavement are best avoided. And this is on NEW (700km + -100km mileage)! Rain is not their element at all. Most likely this is due to the disgusting drainage of water to the side. There are no questions about the central longitudinal grooves, but the lateral transverse grooves do not cope with the tap at all. If you look closely at the side transverse water drainage channels, it looks like a "plug" in 3/4 of the tread depth. Yes, it had the best effect on stability in dry weather and simply breathtaking braking, but the trouble is that water removal to the side significantly worsened it. But as you know, miracles do not happen - tires (summer, for cars) either do an excellent job on dry pavement or wet, the rest is a compromise, shifted in one direction or another. Specifically, advantage just wonderful rulitsya in dry weather. There was an experience, during self-isolation, I went to the village a couple of times, the road is just game. I thought there would be countless bumps (hernias) on the rubber, but everything is ok (therefore I rated it 5 out of 5 goodriches). By the way, it was on the same road that the previous Nokian hakka green summer tires got 1 hernia, but that's a completely different story. I will not say anything about the wear resistance of this model - the experience of their operation is only a couple of months In general, the tire is very decent for dry asphalt. But I would highly recommend driving very carefully in wet weather. No, on slightly wet pavement everything is in order - it slows down, it is controlled predictably, but if the road is full of small puddles (a puddle, according to subjective feelings, is already extreme for these tires), then at some point you can become a captain ship. This is my personal experience of using these tires, I do not pretend to be an expert - I just share my impressions of buying these tires! If anyone is interested, they were bought in the amount of 205/55/16 94W XL. As a result, the weakest side of these tires is wet weather, an abundance of puddles (even shallow ones). That's probably all!

Pros
  • - Excellent road holding in dry weather, in turns as if on rails (rating: 5 Goodrich out of 5); - Braking on dry pavement (rating: 5 out of 5 goodriches); - Sturdy construction (rating: 5 out of 5) - Price quality (4.5 goodrich out of 5)
Cons
  • - Terribly behaves on wet pavement (2.5 goodrich out of 5)
