I bought these because my axle was perfect except for the bearing surface on the right axle of my truck. I ordered my 1986 S10 new from the factory. I know everything about the truck and what I will use it for in the future. I have overloaded it several times with 3500 pounds. And that's what led me there. I would like to be able to do this in the future in an emergency. And that's what stopped me from installing this bearing and just swapping out the axle. The bearing requires a hell of a bang to install and according to others it's extremely difficult to remove. I started the install and it stopped halfway through. I stopped and read more about it. It didn't work on several cars in the reviews but to be honest they weren't installed by professional mechanics. There is also the problem of lubrication. It has a seal on both sides. Is it intended to be lubricated, or does the axle lube flow through this internal seal and is held in a reservoir that provides the seal? I can not know this. I'm keeping my 36 year old truck to the end. I'll be in remote mountainous areas with no cellphone coverage, hunting and chopping wood. I can't afford to break up. I don't have to worry about the critical part. These bearings may even be better than the original, but they get a bad rap in their current form. No thank you. A new axle is only $90. I take the $20 cost as a stupid lesson.
