A recent fire in the West caused by a flat trailer tire prompted me to check the trailer tire nipples. I found five out of five broke in my hand. That's why I ordered these. I was able to break the tire bead and put in a new valve without removing the tire from the wheel. I've tightened the valve nuts a little more than hand tight and there is no leakage. I ended up ordering a dozen and am trying to figure out why they only offer four per pack. I would have bought two packs of five but they cleverly sold me two more to rustle in my desk drawer. If you pull over and find some trailer tires running at 55psi, metal shafts are a must.
