Review on Optimized 3D Glasses for PlayStation 3 by Christopher Bates

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing glasses for Sony VPL-HW40ES and HW55ES 3D projectors!

I bought these for my new projector at the urging of my local Sony dealer. I recently bought a new Sony VPL-HW40ES projector. I was upset to find out that the "recommended" projector glasses are the PJ1 glasses, which range from $99 to $119 a pair. I have decided not to wear 3D glasses for the time being. A few weeks later I met a Sony representative at a local mom and pop electronics store and expressed my concerns about the price of the glasses. He suggested I try the PS3 goggles, saying they are essentially the same as the PJ1 but cheaper. So what did I have to lose? Revain has a great returns policy. So if I try them and they don't work, I can always get a full refund. Each lens is only 1 3/8 inches (35mm) tall. They are 2 3/8" (61.5mm) wide on the outside of the oval. I wish they were at least half an inch taller. But for the price you can't beat them. The PJ1 isn't that much bigger (if anything. ) What can I say, the PJ1 just has a slightly nicer style and rounds out some of the hard edges these have. The style isn't worth the extra $80-100 in my opinion and ordered 3 more pairs, 6 in total. With 3 stock offers at half price plus 3 at current price I got 6 pairs "more than acceptable" 3D glasses for my new projector for less than the cost of 1 pair of "recommended" glasses. Save some money and buy a few of these, you'll be very happy, but for the price you can't beat them. PJ1 isn't much bigger (if at all). As far as I can tell the PJ1s just have a slightly nicer design and round off some of the hard edges these have. Style isn't worth the extra $80-$100 in my opinion. I ended up liking them and ordered 3 more pairs for a total of 6. With 3 half off stock offers plus 3 at current price I ended up with 6 pairs of "more than acceptable" 3D glasses for my new projector below costs 1 pair of "recommended" glasses. . Save some money and buy some of these. You will be very glad you did. For the price, however, they can't be beat. PJ1 isn't much bigger (if at all).
