Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficient Refrigerant Dispensing: Mastercool 85510 R134a Can Tap Valve-Screw-On Model by Chris Prix

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Valve assembly can be a bit tricky

This valve works great. Two things you need to know to make this work for you. 1) Before attempting to screw it onto the can, make sure you open the valve fully, as the sharpened steel rod that pierces the top of the can must be pulled back so it doesn't pierce the can when the valve is attached. Once the valve is fully seated on the can, the valve closes to pierce (open) the can, it's best to connect the hoses first :) Others have complained about problems fitting the valve to the can, and I can say that the way you describe these efforts is your problem. 2) The valve fitting for the hose has an ACME 1/2" male thread. If you plan to use a hose with a 1/4" SAE fitting (this is the refrigerant designation for 1/4" flare -Fittings), you will need an adapter.Similar to the FJC 6015 R134A refrigerant cylinder adapter. It screws onto the outlet of the Mastercool valve with 1/2 ACME threads, providing the user with an outlet with 1/ 4" connector. This combination helped this old fridge mechanic refill the 134a air conditioner in his old Chevy pickup. Now he needs to find the leak.
