Will not work with new cans that are "self-sealing ".

This can tap has worked great for me with cans that had to be pierced. Back in 2018, the EPA required r134a glasses to be "self-sealing.” This valve will not work with new cans. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a faucet that works with the new self-closing cans and there's nothing there. I had to ask mastercool for help. The technician recommended Mastercool 85512 but it is listed for r1234yf (new automotive freon replacement for r134a) and I don't know if it will fit r134a cylinders. Stores

DID NOT WORK FOR ME

Sorry but I also had trouble screwing it onto my freon canisters. The FREON came out of the canister connection a bit even after applying as much force as I thought the canister could handle without destroying the canister cap. As a result, I put it on a cylinder, freon was not released. I use a Robinair sensor kit with rubber hoses. The yellow refrigerant hose will NOT fit properly on this adapter. I had to remove the schrader valve from the yellow hose. BEFORE removing the Schrader valve I…

  • Great overall performance

Valve assembly can be a bit tricky

This valve works great. Two things you need to know to make this work for you. 1) Before attempting to screw it onto the can, make sure you open the valve fully, as the sharpened steel rod that pierces the top of the can must be pulled back so it doesn't pierce the can when the valve is attached. Once the valve is fully seated on the can, the valve closes to pierce (open) the can, it's best to connect the hoses first :) Others have complained about problems fitting the valve to the can, and I…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes

  • No power

Good quality, but there are a few important points.

Quality faucet, very tight, well-made. There are a few things to note: 1) Unscrew the handle fully counter-clockwise before screwing it onto the glass. 2) I found the fit on the can to be very snug when I first screwed it on. But I kept twisting my hand with reasonable force until she got up properly. No excessive force is required. 3) The middle yellow line on my pressure gauge bolts well to this faucet which was the main reason I bought it. Only downside: 4) For California, I found this to…
