Ordered this to replace similar kitchen gadget that recently broke. I loved the one that broke, had it for years; it was one where you put what wanted sliced in and pushed it through the blades by squeezing the handles together (a flrst class lever). I think this one is even better and less likely to break as it is a 2nd class lever, the hinge/fulcrum is at one end the slicing is done in the middle and the effort of pushing is at the other end; this puts less pressure on the fulcrum/hinge/spring, so it is less likey to break. The blade are also serrated which is helpful, the slices are the perfect size (I find presliced mushrooms to be a bit too thick), and the slicing surface is wider than my old one which accommodates larger mushrooms, strawberries, eggs, etc. Even though it is larger than my old one, it fits mor easily into my kitchen utensil drawer, because you can lock it into a closed position. So far, very happy with it.
