
The Comswitch 5500 has been around for a long time and is stable when it can be programmed. I use it to intercept faxes before they reach my Avaya phone system. Switch programming requires patience and time. As Command Communications says, the actual wiring/connection is simple. Programming is another matter. Read the program manual and note or mark the desired programs. Once programmed it should work as advertised. The second but important fact about the device is that it seems to have low resistance to any kind of surge. I have individual surge protectors for both my AC power supply and my PBX and 5500 Bell lines. I also installed whole house surge protectors. At the moment I have two dead 5500s in my basement whose power supplies seem to be fine. The blocks just don't work. However, despite its shortcomings, the Comswitch 5500 is the best device I've come across.
