This product was not assembled correctly and must be returned for a refund.

I'm an electrical engineer and I need a voltage converter to test the product. I am ordering this for Prime 1-Day. Before testing, I opened the product and looked at the electrical wiring to make sure the voltage converter did not damage the device under test. Unfortunately I found security gaps. First a little background. US 120V AC has three wires. Green = protective earth. White = Neutral and AC Return. Black = actual voltage 120 VAC. - Wiring with European color codes, which is normal. The pre-wired AC plug is key. So let's look at the connector: the left side is black, the power is 120V, and the right side is white neutral. Note that the smaller side of the outlet (house wiring) is black 120 VAC. The unit's internal wiring has a circuit breaker connected to the white neutral power line! NOT ALLOWED under US wiring codes when calling from NEC. This cannot be legally sold or connected to an AC power source. So because it is a production problem (factory problem), you must stop using the product! Problem #2 Dangerous and incorrect output voltage. So for European 240 VAC there are three wires Green/Yellow = PE Blue = Neutral Brown = 240 VAC Phase 1 supply. Due to improper connection, the AC 120V socket is subject to incorrect voltage, and if there is no double insulation, you may get an electric shock. Problems with 120V plugs Neutral top plug = protective earth (this is normal) Left side = neutral (this is normal) Right side = 240V (this is not normal!) So I design a lot of products, and the wiring of such products is handmade (it was manual) is normal in my shop. The problem is testing the product after the design failed to reveal this issue, so all of these devices may not be properly connected.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • I don't really like it, it's ok
