I only buy K&N for air filters and accessories

K&N has always been my choice. Great quality, you can see that on the filter and the price doesn't stand a chance against the competition. I have this in my stock GM airbox. Works great, systems are happy, airflow is good. I use a performance tuner and get 34psi turbo wheel loading. I would say it works fine.

My 2011 Chevy Silverado HD 2500 Duramax no problem with check engine light

Easy to install, a bit expensive but you only have to buy it once! and they said you clean and lube it every 50,000 miles. One thing I noticed, it looks like the filter was over-lubricated by the manufacturer. The next day I found some filter oil under my truck coming out of the filter box, otherwise another great K&N product.

Great product - air filter

K&N filters have been used on 5 different cars for years without a single problem and if you keep your car more than 3 years it is cheaper in the long run. This is a great product when used properly. A lot of reviews say dirt got into the inlet, the cap doesn't fit, etc. Make sure your filter is installed correctly. No matter which filter you use, if installed incorrectly, dirt will get into the air intake and you will have problems.

Exact OEM match, no noticeable performance difference

I installed this on my 2014 Chevy 3500 Duramax (fully stock with about 65,000 miles) and have driven about 2000 miles since then. Of those 2,000 miles, 1,000 miles were driven in the city, 700 towed with the fifth wheel (mostly on the freeway) and the remaining 300 miles on the freeway (no towing). There were no noticeable changes in performance (up or down). The main reason I bought this was to avoid buying standard filters every 6 months or a year. I estimate payback in 2 years.

Good filter quality. Don't buy for performance.

The filter is made of high quality materials and meets the requirements of the factory airbox. Previous user comments regarding the increase in fuel consumption and power in my case have not been confirmed. I run a 2012 GMC K2500 with a Duramax Allison combo. I was hoping to get better performance from this filter when towing a caravan on hunting trips and such. It's not like this. Performance seems about the same, fuel economy is actually down about half a mile per gallon.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Unreliable

Long term reusable value

Immediate acceleration improvement. Not harsh, but like you lifted the gas pedal 1/2 inch. The difference is noticeable, but I didn't notice any noticeable change in fuel economy. Good product and will save money in the long run as I keep my cars over 200,000 miles. I've read that they don't filter as much as a paper filter. This means they have better airflow. However, after they get dirty, they slow down the airflow and, to be honest, filter more in the noise. Have used K&N filters on…

Waste of money these days for modern cars

I used to be a big fan of K&N filters. They worked very well with carbureted cars. I have one on my 1986 Camaro Z28. A VERY noticeable increase in performance. HOWEVER: I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 with a 6.6L Duramax engine that I bought a filter for. Before installing the filter, I also thoroughly cleaned my Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. There were no noticeable changes in fuel economy or performance in daily driving or towing/hauling. I monitor both the default dashboard metrics and my Edge…
