Type of review

I used these to hallow out and refine edges on a semi hallow body guitar I'm making. Wasn't sure if I would be doing this again but these chisel were cheep and worked so well I went a step further and bought my self the wood backing today to and got next steps started. Gave 4 star for craftsman ship because I found one of my silver handle rings was loose

Pros
  • Sharp enough out of the box. Sharpened on a stone at 25 degrees and they were excellent. Nice.
Cons
  • The chisels may not hold an edge as well as other, more expensive sets

Chisels are a funny thing in woodworking. Master woodworkers in their 70's might still use a no-name set, with no idea where they come from, that they'll continue to use for the rest of their lives. That's because as long as chisels have good steel, hold an edge, and have a flat back, it doesn't matter what the brand is.That's why you need to understand what you're getting when you buy a $12-17 set of chisels. You are not paying for a meticulously crafted hand tool with a finely honed edge and…

Pros
  • These are very Decent for the price
Cons
  • The chisels may not work well on certain types of wood

good deal for entry level chisels

These chisels are nice looking and a good deal for the price, I really like them, but they're not perfect. the packagingis really not the best. It's a plastic bag but I guess that's what you get for the price. The Quality of the chisels is nice too but again not perfect some of the steele rings are loose on the handles which could lead to early mushrooming of the but ends so you have to fix that, and the chisels are not super sharp but again a simple fix I sharpened mine for dovetail work and…

Pros
  • For the price, can't beat them. They aren't top shelf but all you need unless all you do is hand work.
Cons
  • The canvas bag may tear easily if exposed to sharp edges

High quality for a low price. Excellent for beginners.

I decided to buy the least expensive chisels I could find after a Paul Sellers video on how he teaches his students to use chisels. These chisels may require sharpening more often than the more expensive chisels, but sharpening is a skill that must be mastered if one expects to have quality surfaces from the chisels. Although I have only had these for a short time and am still getting the bevels set to my liking, I believe they will serve me well for a long time.

Pros
  • Hand Tools
Cons
  • The tools may not be suitable for heavy-duty woodworking projects

These are hard to rate

I gave these five stars because for the price and after I had made substantial revisions they turned out to be decent tools. However, as they come the handles are dreadful, and the machining is very rough. These are not to be confused with far more expensive high quality chisels. I bought these to practice making new handles and test the feel of the handles I made before putting new handles made of some special wood I had onto some better quality chisels that came with unsatisfactory plastic…

Pros
  • Good product, price a little high
Cons
  • The canvas bag may be prone to discoloration or staining

Didn't like the wood handles

I liked these chisels but I didn't like the wooden handles. After one use the wood was already starting to wear out. I didn't think it would last long. I returned the product, but I really loved the chisel and wish I could've kept it.

Pros
  • The chisels are designed to withstand heavy use and everyday wear and tear, ensuring long-lasting performance
Cons
  • The handles may not be durable enough to withstand heavy use

Cost efficient. - my new review

If there's one thing I would like us a sharper edge. Just as described. Very sharp.. Some of us wood workers don't have sharpening skills.

Pros
  • Just as described. Very sharp.
Cons
  • The canvas bag may not be large enough to fit additional tools or accessories

good quality best in my review

the seems like a good quality chisels and sharper than I expected from a factory-made unsharpened chisels. The tools may not fit comfortably in the canvas bag, making it difficult to organize and transport.

Pros
  • The chrome vanadium steel construction makes the chisels rust-resistant, preventing them from deteriorating over time
Cons
  • The tools may not fit comfortably in the canvas bag, making it difficult to organize and transport

Great deal, plan on tuning them up before using

Great deal, they are not ready to use.The photo shows a few passes on 220 sandpaper over float glass. Thankfully the back is concave on all four chisels. The surface shows distinct grinder lines, but nothing an evening polishing will not fix. They come with a primary bevel that is rounded at the cutting edge. These really need a proper sharpening. I'll be putting a secondary bevel with a honing guide. The finish on the wood handles is not mirror smooth. I'm happy with it. And the ferrels on the…

Pros
  • The chisels are easy to sharpen and maintain, ensuring consistent performance over time
Cons
  • The handles may be too slippery to grip comfortably with sweaty hands

Sharp and comfortable

Such an improvement over my cheap, Stanley set. Thanks for attention. They are staying sharp after the first few uses (hardwood and epoxy).

Pros
  • They're pretty rough and ready but if you put a little work in they're not bad chisels at all
Cons
  • You get what you pay for, simple & useful !!

Fantastically Sharp!

Not just sharp, but hold their position where you place it! So pleasantly surprised at the quality of the blades (not so much of their carrying case), they're straight, incredibly sharp and they look like a craftsman actually took the time to make these despite being mass produced. I'd totally buy these again if I needed another new set!

Pros
  • Top grade kraft paper packaging, suitable for storage and gift delivery. Packaging keeps the chisels separate so they don't hang on each other in transit.
Cons
  • The canvas bag may not be well-constructed and may start to fray quickly

The bottom of this tool is wood I tlthought the bottom would be metal for hammering, the wood will likely split within a few good uses.

Pros
  • The blades come slightly oiled, which helps to protect against corrosion. Each chisel has a black plastic edge guard to protect the tips from damage and to protect everything else in your toolbox from getting nicked or scratched.
Cons
  • The steel may be too brittle, making the chisels prone to breaking

Good value with a little sweat equity.

Pros: inexpensive machine manufactured chisels. Fairly good quality steel and wood handles. With some labor invested, this set can be a good purchase for the beginner.Cons: The 3/4 inch chisel edge was out of true by as much as .5 MM. For a machine made chisel this is poor quality control. The wood used on the handles is beautiful but you couldn't tell because the manufacturer dupped the handles in a thick shiny poor qualy polyurethane that is so cloudy you can barely see the wood grain. After…

Pros
  • Muy feliz con la compra. Sirve para la talla y el trabajo artesanal con la madera.
Cons
  • The steel may become dull more quickly than other, higher-quality sets

Max bang 4 the buck

Sharpens up nicely. Decent edge retention. Not a Narex Richter but 4 for half the price of 1 Narex it's hard to beat. Good general shop use chisels.

Pros
  • The set comes with a sturdy canvas bag for storage and transportation, making it easy to keep your tools in one place
Cons
  • The steel may require frequent sharpening to maintain its edge

Cracked Handle on my review.

These just arrived and my 3/4” chisel has a crack that goes through both sides. Disappointed because I don’t think that it’ll stand up to long use because of that. Other than that they seem decent for the price & are fairly sharp

Pros
  • The chisels cut cleanly and accurately, reducing the chance of splintering or uneven edges
Cons
  • The tools may require frequent oiling or lubrication to prevent rust

Nice product for the price.

I am an experienced woodworker and would probably opt for a more premium chisel set. However, I purchased these as gifts for beginners, and they for that they make a nice set of utility bench chisels. The nice pouch made the presentation as a gift all the better.

Pros
  • The chisels have a sleek, professional look and feel, making them a stylish addition to any workshop
Cons
  • The set may not be suitable for use by left-handed users
