Good price and well made but didn't go well with my Mazda

Seems like a good kit especially for the price. However, the universal part was not enough to mount the brake piston on my Mazda 3 rear brake. I was able to use it and get the job done but it was a problem as it didn't fit well and kept slipping. However probably a good product for most. Hopefully it will fit better on other cars when it comes time to make rear disc brakes.

Good value for money - minor upgrade required

The brake kit works fairly well, the various attachments are magnetic and overall it works as it should. However, when it comes to the sliding T-handle, that's wet noodles. I had to stop work midway to make repairs/improvements and finishings. Simple fix: 1/4 grade 8 bolt, 4-1/2 in. long and two 1/4 nuts. Cut off the old crank, slide on the new screw, tighten the two nuts at the bottom, done. If you make this upgrade, it still fits in the case.

Perfect for my situation!

My Mazda3 was one of those particular cars that used a different type of rear brake shoe piston than most. I wasn't too upset because I finally came across this product after doing some research and gave it a try after trying a simple $12 all-in-one car dealership tool. After my refund, they even dared to convince me that the "master key" to turn and push the pistons would cost around $80. I immediately called BS and bought it. It looks like this kit can benefit not only my car but MANY otherโ€ฆ

Serves its purpose, appears to be of good quality for a very small price.

I borrowed a caliper rewind tool kit from Local Autozone, but after removing the old pads I found it was defective. Decided to check into Revain and was surprised to find a similar kit priced under $20 with next day shipping. I was all the more surprised that the instrument was delivered the next day before noon, despite the order being placed in the middle of the day. Despite the low price, the tool appears to be of significantly higher quality and has a slightly better design than the faultyโ€ฆ

Better than chipping pistons with a C-clamp

As the name suggests, using a C-clamp directly on the piston will result in chipping the lip and in my case catastrophic damage to the piston calipers . fail. If only I had spent money (and not really a lot) on this tool kit for the first time, I could have saved myself the expense and hassle of replacing my caliper. This steering wheel works exactly as advertised and if your caliper pistons are spinning (I'm looking at you Mazda) it will work. The tools come in a hard case that keepsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Worked on my 2012 Mazda 3 rear calipers. I haven't had to do the front myself yet. The pins fit snugly so had to do a bit of fiddling, but that's what universal fit products are like. Once I lined up the two pins with the bolt in the caliper, everything worked great. It also comes with a flat adapter so it will fit if you have straight piston cars. The quality of the tool is amazing for $18. If I were looking for a "regular" straight piston compressor, I would choose this one, knowing that forโ€ฆ

You will need them

If you work on modern brakes. The kit got the job done with ease. There are different types of manufacturer brakes, including all additional brake styles, including additional tools. The instruments were of unexpected quality in this price range. For a few bucks more, I decided to use this kit instead of the ratchet square bar brake tool, which is the only other option I know of for the job. Even if your shop is anything like mine, this neat and tidy set will be a lot easier to find when youโ€ฆ
