Lasted 4 months, best in sport

I have had many frame locks since I lived in Amsterdam for several years. This one really let me down, the lock was cumbersome and tacky and as of yesterday (less than 4 months after I put it on my bike the key comes out of the lock even if it's not locked (the whole point of this lock is in there that the key stays in the lock until you want to close it) so it's broken - essentially unusable. Really poor quality considering the price.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Dear

When opening, the key remains; Well if you have caliper holes

I bought this lock wrong so be careful this is not the lock that uses the underseat plate on many bikes. If your bike has a disc only frame, you may not have holes for this lock. You can use the Ty-Rap form, but it's better to get a different type of lock. It would also be nice if the manufacturer mentioned that the key cannot be removed when unlocking. That's great, but it would be nice to have that kind of information.

  • Handy thing
Cons

That's a wonderful thing. Don't worry about forgetting to bring yours.

This item is great. You'll never have to worry about carrying my padlock with you again, it's always locked. I use it on my cargo bike so nobody picks up a bike and runs away with just a locked wheel. Also, I have a cord built into this lock that can tie it to anything. Works perfectly. I just wish it was the guy who keeps the key in the keyhole when the lock is unlocked so I don't have to keep an eye on the key.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • No performance

Not enough mounting hardware/information

As others have written, US bike compatibility is really difficult because there is no real way to mount it on a rear fork without additional hardware other than just not included , but is also mentioned somewhere other than these reviews. Any hint from the manufacturer as to what your bike may need to install would be appreciated. However, having lived in Amsterdam for several years, I have relied on this type of lock as a second lock; but the NL also had a much better and dirt-resistant lockโ€ฆ

Don't like to say safe.

I was trying this product and lost it on the street because it fell off my bike even though I had zip ties to attach it to the frame. My guess is that the brackets bent the metal or something that made it fall apart. I don't really understand how this happened, but being in the road bike grocery delivery business it's important to have a cafe lock to quickly and easily turn the lock on and off. It sucks that for the cost of this lock I could spend half a day making $50 in a few hours. Insteadโ€ฆ

Mounting brackets for ABUS

. Bike. After searching the internet and watching a lot of videos, I figured the easiest way to mount the lock is with the ABUS mounting brackets, which use the rear brakes as the mounting point. I didn't like the sheet metal screws that came with the brackets and instead used machine screws with lock washers and hex nuts. I drilled mounting holes in the bracket to allow the device to slip through. General. I am very happy with the results.

Pros
  • bicycle frame lock are easy to assemble. That's great.

Great lock for everyday use in low risk areas.

A great castle to just walk through our small town. This will NOT stop an avid bike thief, but it will prevent your bike from being stolen by an idiot. I first saw this on my wife's Electra Townie 8i electric bike. It has a slightly different model, it's a bit wider so that fat people can fit the bike better. The 4960 was big enough to handle 2.00 on my Trek Lift+. Note that unless you solder the bolts to the seatstays, installing this lock is a hassle. I ended up installing it with heavy dutyโ€ฆ

Fantastic lock when used properly and correctly

This lock itself will stop the rear wheels from spinning and prevent someone from quickly jumping on your bike and pedaling. This lock doesn't matter if the thief takes your bike and leaves or throws it in the back of a pickup truck and drives away. This lock is for when you are within sight of your bike, e.g. B. when you rush to a supermarket for water, or when you're sitting on the sidewalk in a cafe with your bike in sight. So many bikes get stolen because someone jumped on them and droveโ€ฆ

Perfect for my Simcoe Roadster

Bike locks are difficult to test without trying to steal or pick the lock. So this is less of a review of the lock's efficiency or security. Blocking frames in general is a compromise in a sense. Note that they are widely available outside of North America, particularly in the Netherlands, and generally meet bike insurance standards. As far as frame locks go, this is by no means low security, but it's still a frame lock when it counts - so it secures the rear wheel to the frame and prevents the
