Should be better for the price, quality control needed.

We ended up getting the calipers working, I ordered a right hand and a left hand for the Tahoe '04. I received the calipers and immediately noticed that the pins do not slide in and out of the mount smoothly. I had to use a drill to clean out the holes in the caliper bracket so the pins were slick enough with lube to keep them from sticking. The restoration process appeared to have been done in the dark, with many burrs and metal shavings around the machined surfaces and contact points. They've

  • Can't remember

Can't believe acdelco put their name on this junk! Look at the photos. The pistons in the caliper are rotten and rusting! That's why you replace your brake caliper in the first place. The pistons must be completely flat in order for your pads to slide smoothly when they make contact with the rotor. These "reconditioned" calipers used rotten pistons that only get worse over time (winter and salt only accelerate the corrosion that was already there) and lead to uneven wear on the brake pads. If…

Do yourself a huge favor and check the mating surface for the brake hose connector BEFORE installing it. My caliper should never have passed quality control. The expander sealing surface was nicked and uneven. I replaced the expanders twice but the caliper was still leaking brake fluid. It was NEVER supposed to pass quality control. The matting surface was uneven, pitted and has a deep cut Since I ruled out the possibility of creating a seal, I was lucky that I had found it before using it on…

Excellent replacement part

I usually order Delco OEM parts for my 2002 Tahoe LT. When the left rear caliper needed replacing I compared OEM 172-1611 to Professional 18FR1591. Although the Professional has been redesigned, it includes a new air vent, copper washers, hardware and mounting bracket. In addition, it comes with new pins lubricated, installed and tightened to specification. As if that wasn't enough to convince someone to order the caliper, Delco is offering a $60 discount after it's released. The discount is a…
