The maximum piston piston height should be .250 (1/4 inch) in these vehicles. The plunger height of this part is 0.4375 (7/16"). The door will not close when this switch is set.

I used these to replace the factory door switches on a '70 Cutlass convertible. I had to cut off the factory connectors as the car came from the factory with a 2 pin and a 3 pin connector and these are female connector switches. It remains only to strip the wire and crimp the connector, put it on the spatula and twist again.

Only one of the two is easy to wear. One of them must have had bad filament, luckily one of my original ones worked and I just swapped it out to replace it. I've tried both sides so I know there weren't threads stuck in the door.

For months my door open warning light would flash when the door was closed. Insert this switch using the four rear hatch bolts to access the back of the 2 wire connectors, drill the old hole a slightly wider and smack this onto the body of the socket pin with a hammer and a couple of small taps it is solid and works great.

The switch is 3/8 24 threaded so a drill and tap can get it working in almost any auto application. The Switch initially refused to screw holes in my 77 Vette so I fitted a 3/8 24 hammer first and they fired right away and worked perfectly. It's possible to solder directly to the switch using the holes in the spade connectors if you don't have the same tiny connectors on your car wiring harness and still plug back into the through hole with ease.
