Only suitable for 4 speed transmissions, this product is not advertised.

I ordered this transmission filter kit for my 2012 Dodge Journey SXT FWD with 3.6 liter engine and 6 speed transmission. Before I removed the transmission pan, I checked its bolt pattern and compared it to the oil pan gasket that comes with this Delco transmission filter kit, part #TF242, and it wasn't the same. After further research on Rock Auto's website, this filter kit appears to be for a 4 speed transmission which is normally mated to a base 4 cylinder engine. Having waited a month and a…

Worked great in my 2005 Chrysler T&C

Worked perfectly in my 2005 Chrysler T&C. Supplied with replaceable filter neck seal and cork seal. Make sure the old o-ring comes out with the old filter, or reach in and remove it. The factory seal was just RTV silicone that had to be scraped off the oil pan and transmission, making the oil pan difficult to pry off. You can use a thin layer of RTV silicone to attach the gasket to the pan and a thin layer on the other side to create a good seal. Do not overtighten the cork gasket. Try…

Fits well, be sure to check the seal before you start work.

The filter fits perfectly but be warned there is no o-ring included. O-ring reused from the original filter. The upholstery leaves room for improvement. My first order came with a broken gasket, probably because it was mostly crumpled and left with the filter. My replacement arrived undamaged, but it had to be laid out flat and given time to rest so it lay flat (with the help of a book or two). The gasket is a mixture of cork and rubber or a similar material. Sealed perfectly on my non-RTV…

Good quality filter, weak/fragile seal.

I liked that it is durable and looks well made. Neat part, good fit. The 2 top tabs that snap into the gear box were a bit difficult to hook in, only one wanted to click/snap. With some liquid on his tongues and 3 gentle but REALLY firm attempts, he stood up. When I tried to put the pan on, the filter fell off. So I repeated the filter installation, made sure the tabs were fully seated, quickly put on the pan with the gasket and turned it to the minimum spec. I added liquid and it came out…

The filter seems fine. There was no cork lining.

pan removed. Both contact surfaces cleaned. Also cleaned the screws. I smeared a small bead of silicone (blue RTV) around the pan. I aligned the gasket and put screws in the holes to ensure the gasket stayed in place. top of the seal. I carefully leveled the pan and tightened all the screws. I traced my fingers around the perimeter. I walked around the palette several times and picked it up very slowly. criss-cross or whatever they call it) increased partial torque.
