Happy with the purchase in general

Purchased on Cyber Monday. I used to have an HP Chromebook 14 and wanted a different Chromebook. The screen is really good but has fairly large bezels (that white space is also noticeable above the keyboard). Overall, it's slightly larger/heavier than you'd expect from a 13.5-inch laptop. The speakers sound pretty good, but they're on the underside so they get distorted at times. The battery is good so far. Performance is solid, but the fan on the bottom can make noise if you're doing anything…

Terrific Best in Computers & Accessories

nice car. slow. does not currently have access to Google apps. overall not a good buy. really good paperweight. Update - February 15, 2019 - Removed a star. Two weeks after my return window closed, the computer got stuck in tablet mode. Keyboard and mouse are not responding. The display goes blank (only black) at times. I spent an hour on the phone with customer support while CSR went through all the troubleshooting and concluded it was a hardware issue (yes). CSR said I would be paid for…

The perfect Chromebook for Windows transition

I got this laptop during the Cyber Monday sale as my first non-Windows PC. I have Windows 10 on my home desktop, but I haven't turned it on since this Chromebook came out last week because I wanted to give Acer a shot and see how much I really miss Windows 10. Nothing forced me not to use Windows10! The only time I felt a bit uncomfortable was when I had to use the Microsoft Office products. I'll say that I was just a bit uncomfortable because I can still use all the Office programs (actually…

  • Doubt

First I got a brand new machine from Revain. I updated to the latest version of ChromeOS and allowed my kid to use it. We noticed graphical glitches while playing Roblox. Then, only a few days of ownership, it hung heavily during play. I turned off the machine and after that it wouldn't boot. I tried many things suggested from the internet and nothing worked. I had to go back to a recovery image and erase the entire machine, but it still didn't work after the restore. The machine worked…

Which "Powerful Chromebook " Should You Buy: Lenovo C630 or Acer Spin 13?

If you're willing to sacrifice an hour or two of battery life for a 2x to 5x increase in processor performance, then try to balance between the Lenovo C630 and the Acer Spin 13 (both ring-based). around a Pixelbook or Pixel Slate). Both models draw the maximum from the Intel I5-8250U processor, which is occasionally equipped with a whirring fan. Both have the same RAM, storage and IPS screen (Lenovo has a 15.6-inch screen, Acer has a 13.5-inch screen). Lenovo's Revain is typically $619, while…

Top notch Chromebook

My review will be brief, but I'll likely update it over time. I only had it for the day I am writing the first version of this review. About me: I'm not exactly an advanced user, I would consider myself a super user. I've been using Chrome OS as my main operating system for about six or seven years, but the Chromebook that replaced it was quite a long time ago, so this is the first current-gen Chromebook I've had since my C720 was new. .Pro:* It has a great keyboard. This is the best laptop…

Choose this instead of Pixelbook. Yes I said so

I actually bought a Pixelbook during Black Friday and thought I got a great deal. Then Cyber Monday came along and the Spin 13 was selling for the same price ($699) so I bought one and thought I'd check it out and choose either that or the Pixelbook. Well I did my comparison and I really like Acer. The Pixelbook is undoubtedly a quality build, being thinner, slightly lighter and "prettier". Spin 13 is a TANK. It feels solid in the hands and doesn't feel like you're holding a fragile piece of…

Powerful for its price.

While I can't comment on how good this purchase is at full price, I bought it when it was on sale for $700 and I can't recommend this Chromebook more highly. Pros: - Powerful i5-8250U with 8GB RAM for zero slowdown, 3:2 aspect ratio for huge screen real estate, Android and Linux app support (Crostini) so you can run almost any app you want, two in one with one built-in pen. Cons: During intensive tasks like Linux gaming, the fan gets very loud very quickly and alternates between different…

Acer Chromebook Spin 13

This is my daily driver, I use this CB (Chromebook) every day for 8-12 hours of work and even games on it. 8 GB of RAM is enough for CB. I have no slowdowns, everything I put on it just works, do I need MS Office? You can use the Android version or the web version. I use Linux so I have my office, CAD, project planner, all free, 100% open source. I can access Office documents, exchange files with clients and colleagues, that's no problem. I can run some windows programs with beta emulator. Wow!

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok
