Based on the description and some testimonials, I have the impression that this shade will solve the problem of a window that is "too bright” (the sun illuminates the room at sunrise) in my bedroom, but while it darkens the room more than the previous curtains I had there, it's not as dark as I was hoping. I had a hard time cutting off the excess (with a sharp utility knife) and then making sure the blind was centered before gluing it on. I then had to use nails to reinforce the stuck area. My husband and I just renovated our bedroom. We wanted to replace our old room with blackout curtains on the windows. I bought these for my living room windows which face east and get direct light from sunrise to sunset. I'd say these blinds block 90% of that direct light, which is enough to "darken a room" while only letting in a very small amount of light.
