Quality, low cost, efficiency

I'm tired of paying so high prices for activated carbon. it's not that special. So I looked at all the options here on Revain. After a bit of research and reading reviews from other hobbyists, I realized that this product might meet my needs. I've been using this product for over a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it. My tanks are clean, my fish are healthy and happy, my bank account is better. Easy to use, less waste when cleaning, the granules do not crumble. + all…

It's coal! in Fish & Aquatic Pets

When I opened this bag, I was instantly transported back to my childhood and remembered what rabbit food looked like, only it was black. While working on the application - air purification. I don't use this in an aquarium, but if you do you MUST flush the charcoal first. I recently found that pellet form charcoal like this brand is not as effective or "air filtering" as the charcoal you find in pebble or stone form (has something to do with the composition of the charcoal). But it works and it…

Never rinsed off

Am I the only one who has problems with this charcoal? It says "prewashed" but of course I spent a few minutes rinsing. And rinse. And rinse. Never before have I had to wash coal so much to finally clean it. In the end I decided it was good enough and put it in my test filter. I'm glad there weren't any fish in the tank because after a few days the bottom of my tank is covered with a thin layer of coal dust. I'm still flushing the same batch out of the filter and it's STILL not clear. I'll…

Great price, great quality and works perfectly!

For use with Seachem Purigen 250ml filter In my turtle tank. This charcoal is not as dusty as most I've used and just needs a little rinsing before it's ready to use. It comes in the form of sticks. but as another reviewer pointed out, it seems to work even better when it's a bit broken. I just shredded it up a bit before putting it in a nylon bag. I used this activated charcoal long before using Purigen and have been very pleased with how well it works on its own. Combined with Purigen, in…

All activated carbons made in the chain are not the same

All activated carbons made in China are not the same. I usually buy Petco coal pellets at twice the price of Acurel. When I received the Acurel I immediately compared it to the Petco product. While Acurel stated it was pre-washed, it was actually covered in charcoal dust and even had a slightly greyish tint compared to the Petco, which was all black before the wash. When I washed the Acurel to activate, the water at the bottom of the bucket turned quite dark. Eventually, this product was used…

Suitable for small filters.

Extruded activated carbon is not as good as granular activated carbon, so it has lower filtration efficiency and needs to be replaced more often. However, it is slightly cheaper. This material is very dense and some pieces are up to 2 cm long. A permanently smaller grain size would be much better. Although listed as pre-washed, there is a lot of dust on it and needs rinsing before use. 6 pounds of this material is equivalent to about 40 ounces of granular material, which weighs much less. I use

Great Activated Carbon at a great price

This is a super activated carbon filter material for aquarium filters. The granules are approximately 1/8 inch in diameter and 1/4 to 1 inch in length. The granules are hard and don't crumble into dust like others I've tried. This is the cheapest charcoal I've found for my filters, while also being the best I've found. This is a business that cannot be won. I use it for biological filtration, not chemical absorbents. I've found it works better than bio balls or ceramic rings and costs less than

Great value filter accessories

I have been buying activated carbon for 15 years. I've tried really expensive products and as far as I can tell they all do the same thing. The more expensive product is crushed into small pieces while it is in the form of granules. One day I'll try to break it down to see if it makes a difference, but I seriously doubt it will. That's a great price, I paid 3.99 per bag. I ordered 5 bags at once to save on shipping. (it was 5.99 no matter how many packs you buy) That lasts me a whole year and…
