I bought it to use on my Linux computer. The product said it works with Linux, I tried installing the software. It will not install. The support was terrible, my roommate who is a linux expert and cybersecurity specialist couldn't get it to work, I contacted people in linux groups on facebook, they couldn't help either. Returned for a full refund.

It couldn't even pick up more than zero 2.4GHz bands from my router about 5 meters away in the same room. The internal card in my laptop works better than this one with the antenna disabled! I think it's ok if you plan on keeping your computer on a router. I don't know why you don't just plug it in. I can't confirm reception in the 5GHz band, I think maybe I should put this thing INSIDE the router, then maybe.

This product is for Wi-Fi connections. Once the drive was loaded, I was unable to complete the steps required for a proper connection. It didn't prompt me to plug in the USB adapter. I tried that several times and it didn't work. The product came in a hidden plastic bag - it had to be picked, it doesn't work with the hard drive. If you are using a USB to Wi-Fi dongle please do not use this product - the best is Netgear which I ended up getting and set up was easy and worked.

Well, very satisfied at first, connected to both 2.4 and 5,,,,, fast speeds tested. after 2-3 days i noticed that just connecting to 2.4 is still a good speed. It never tried to connect 5gh again and oddly it can't get as close as 14ft to a wifi router, line of sight in the air without any obstruction can't be much closer and not part of the router. I still use the son happily enough, the 2.4 speed it connects to is faster than the old USB WiFi we had at 2.4Ghz.

I needed some N-AC adapters to increase the Wi-Fi speed on my tablets and desktop computers that I have in my shed. I saw these, they seemed to go with everything I was looking for. They reach 433 Mbit/s on 5 GHz and about 175 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz. I stay at 5GHz if I'm close enough, which is almost always the case. I also got a pleasant surprise. I was pleasantly surprised to see about a 3X increase in download speed on my old Windows 7 laptop when I was closer to the wireless router. Please note that my laptop has "Fast Ethernet" which limits the wired connection to 100MHz. I had some setup issues because I set my router to 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz with the same SSID.
