As an electrician, if I am told to run a 30 amp circuit I will run size 10 wire end to end. A size 10 wire and then a connection to a size 12 wire is no longer a 30A circuit. So my advice is to go to any parts store and buy a size 12 red and black reel, a 20 amp switch, relay and matching plug and crimp terminals to match the plugs you are using.
