Won't stick

Filter won't stick to aquarium wall even when air is diverted with a valve. You need a big sucker. Had to dig into the rocks to hold on

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Generally OK, but...

Small but powerful: aquarium pumps and filters

The device was small and worked great. Provides great flow for the nano shrimp tank I use it in. I had to depressurize the air line to reduce its flow. Good unit.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I'll write later

good backup filter for aquarium pumps and filters

I am using this in a backup solution in case of power failure, I like its compact size but would like to see a swivel or 90 degree suction mount. The filter works, but the flow leaves a lot to be desired. In general, this filter is good if you have a 5 gallon or smaller aquarium as it is easier to hide than traditional sponges.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Having problems

Not terrible, but much better options available

It's ok, but not great. Due to its design, it takes up a lot of space in the tank. You are better off using the traditional sponge filter design as they have more suction and filter better. Traditional versions also have a higher quality foam. I ended up replacing them with traditional angled sponge filters and they work much better.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • There are downsides

Keeps the tank clean but doesn't stick to the sides.

I got it for my 5 liter tank. I had it for about a month. In general I am satisfied. It keeps the water fresh and I don't worry about my betta's fins. However, the suction cup does NOT stick. The item is heavy enough to still stay underwater and I've completely given up trying to get it to stay on the side of the glass. While it works well, it's probably better for a small tank. Please also note that you MUST purchase an air pump separately for this.

Pros
  • Sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • A few little things

Simple modifications make this mini-tank a huge asset

This design is used by several brands, but hopefully this message gets you by using a piece of rubber tubing (a thicker variety like external filter tubing) that was rackets thicker Diameter. and the smaller inner diameter increased airflow and reduced bubbles. When you reduce the external flow, the air comes out faster, which causes the water to move faster, giving you more suction power from your sponge. Note that I have to clean the filter much more often, but I would rather do that than…

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Transparency

Nice little filter - does the job

Second day of using this little filter. My all-female guppies had babies unexpectedly, and when I realized they were real fish and not tadpoles (first time I've had a fish...) I shoveled them into my old chicken bowl in a panic. It quickly became cloudy, but I don't want to invest in a large aquarium until I've separated the males from the females. I only needed a small filter/bubbler and so far it's working. The first picture shows how cloudy the water was the morning after the young were put…
