Folds up very small - solid

Need a fallback for Waverunner - the Spark's front trunk is small but fits very well and still has room for other items. Easy to open, seems very robust - hopefully never needed. Good value for money.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Great price

Don't catch the creek without a paddle!

Purchased for use in a jet ski. Haven't had to use it yet thank goodness. But this one folds down to a short length (20 inches) and expands to 45 inches. The structure seems fine. Fits in the compartment I had to fit in. Similar paddles are available from W-Mart for less.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Fits

Broke on second use

I think you get what you pay for. It seemed like a good deal but the plastic ring holding the extension in place broke in half on the second use on our daysailer rendering it unusable. Instead I bought a full size wooden paddle for $10 more and it works perfectly. I think the bright orange color might be useful for marking other boats to give you a tug :)

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons

It worked once. - Watersports

Not sure if I found a defective one but the paddle broke in half on my second outing. At full expansion, the aluminum tubes didn't appear to overlap, making them a very weak spot (which I only discovered after seeing the two pieces). If you just row with it, you might be fine. If you want to do something very reckless and aggressive, like push off a dock or push off a sandy beach to help launch a canoe, I'd go with something stronger.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank

Broke on first use!

I bought this rudder for my boat 2 months ago and hid it away for unforeseen circumstances. I should have tried that first. When I used it for the first time yesterday, the extender mechanism jammed and the collar broke. When I lengthened the handle, parts of the plastic used to lock the extension in the blade were broken. Obviously cheap plastic parts were used where stronger materials were required. I found out about this 30 days late as the warranty had expired.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Doubtful

This paddle fits snugly between the fuel tank and hull foam when folded

I bought this with an old Yamaha jet ski I just bought. When I was 20, I wanted to be able to carry a paddle in case of a breakdown. This paddle when folded fits nicely between the fuel tank and hull foam. Very limited space on this PWC and it works great. Haven't had to use it yet but seems to be quite durable and frankly better than I expected for the price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I haven't used it yet to see how well it holds up over long periods of time.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some bugs

Watch out for one weak point, but overall they're ok!

They're good for what they are: light, foldable, transportable, easy to use etc. otherwise they'll break in half. I noticed mine cracked when using hard hits and I just adjusted it so there was a few inches of overlap and haven't had a problem since! Check out my inflatable photos of Sevylor Tahiti fishing/hunting kayaks to see if you pack the paddle with the rest of the kit! 4 stars because they are good for the price but may need improvement. If you're buying these for an inflatable kayak, I…
