I had to change the airflow direction to install it

The cabin air filter for a 2000 Honda CRV is labor intensive to install so it didn't fit as expected when I went to install it. I didn't want to reassemble the cabin filter bracket, send the filter back, wait for a replacement, and then disassemble the cabin filter again. My only solution was to install it backwards; ie in the opposite direction to the correct airflow. Hope it doesn't matter.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Not bad

Does not fit 1999 Honda Crv directly as advertised

Filter media looks good but does not fit my Crv smoothly. I had to push it into the filter holder. This is not for CRV 1st generation. But yes, it will work. Wouldn't buy again.

Pros
  • Compatible with Honda CR-V (1997-2001), Honda Insight (2000-2006)
Cons
  • Update available

NOT for 1999 Honda CRV.

A 1999 Honda CRV has slots at each end of the filter - see image. Either cut out the plastic slot or install the filter backwards (against the airflow). So I installed in reverse order to fit the existing slot. FYI: I'm calling the Honda dealer for the part, it's $26.

Pros
  • Cabin Air Filter should be replaced at least every 12 months. Each filter comes with installation instructions for quick and easy replacement.
Cons
  • Damaged

Hard Landing - Air Cleaner & Accessories

Had to trim a bit to fit 2001 Honda CRV. The folds on the side that descends into the strut following the airflow arrows are too thick to slip into the channels on either side of the strut. There are thin pleats on the other side of the filter that fit, but the airflow direction is wrong. I cut the crossbars at each end that hold the pleats in place, then I used a small plastic ruler to slide the thicker pleats in place so as not to damage them. Once installed, the filter seems to work fine…

Pros
  • Replaces frame: CF8249A | Honda: 80291-ST3-505, 80291-ST3-515, 80291-ST3-E01 - check match with Amazon part finder
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
