Akebono Performance ASP1001 Premium Ceramic Review

Installed on Acura TL Type S 2007. Excellent stopping power. But they have a terrible squeak at 15mph and below. All measures have been tried (brake damping, angle grinding, rotor surface cleaning). As a result, I put in the factory pads and the squeaking was gone.

Installed on my 04 S60R. They are quiet and dust very little, if at all. However, the problem is related to braking power. I use stainless steel brake lines and the R comes with Brembo, most of the time the brakes are tight and hard on hard braking. However, these brake pads are very soft with these brake pads and do not bite. The price is great, but I won't buy it again.

Best ceramic/general pads I've ever used on a street car. Have tried others like Green Stuff, Hawk HPS+ etc, they are simply better. Great cold bite, even better when warmed up, low dust levels and at least in my car no noise either. Those having noise should clean the calipers well when installing new pads and apply lube to the back of the pads - note that my rotors are slotted which might also help a little, I haven't tried non-slotted rotors. Have used Akebono products in the past with great satisfaction, everything they claim (in advertising) is true. These pads have already covered about 5000 miles. The biggest pluses are that the pads are affordable, leave very little brake dust and braking performance is pretty good. The downer is that these brakes make a lot more noise than we would like. I wish my brakes had been professionally finished by the dealer and installed these pads instead of using OEM pads.
