Works to control old computer fans

Used to control the speed of some old computer fans. Works well at high speeds. At lower speeds, the fans make a noticeable clicking noise, but this is most likely not the fault of the controller. There is a capacitor on the board that protrudes beyond the handle and screw blocks, making assembly difficult.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

May work in your application.

PWM The PWM speed control does not work well with a light load such as a 12V fan. There's a narrow window in the adjustment potentiometer that does just about anything, slowing down slowly to the death. Turning it on out of nowhere makes it difficult to get something and then suddenly turn on. You could use a sonic cone potentiometer, but that's something for people who grew up with electricity. More Chinese junk. May work in your application.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Easy to use, great price

I bought this for an unusual purpose, I was building a heat exchanger for a fireplace and needed to fit a small fan in a 2.25" piece of black iron pipe. I connected this controller to a small drone motor and a 2 AA battery box. It was very easy to connect and works well, it even has a small LED to show it's on. Adjustments are smooth, not graduated. I wired it up in about 2 minutes, just connect plus and minus to the power supply, do the same with the element that is powered and tighten the set

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll write back later
