I love this gas cap on my 04 Dodge Ram 1500. I have a gas cap but it unscrews easily. I bought this door with a lock so the fuel stays where it belongs, in my gas tank and not in another jerry can. You need to snap it firmly into place and adjust the locking mechanism so that it closes tightly.

Pros
  • Tough finish
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

ATTENTION TO THE BUYER! It was never meant for that.

BUYER WARNING! This was never intended to be a quality product! When I opened it up, the screw and washer fell out. I quickly discovered that it was the screw that attached the door itself to the frame that was attached to the truck. It was about 1/8 inch deep in the aluminum. If you know anything about aluminum, you know this design will never work. Not to mention, if you frame the door where it normally sits, it won't be anywhere near the center. DO NOT BUY

You are taking a risk.

Does not fit 97 F150. I had to drill the original side screw holes. and drill 2 new holes for the opposite side. These holes rested on the metal edge of the fuel filler neck (the instructions say it's plastic (not 97). There are a few oddities that set the 97 and less than 98 apart from the old 97-03 and 04. Could still do this do not drill corner part. Just broke the drill bit, not expecting that there is corner metal hiding behind it. If the holes were set on the inner circle, then this would

Gas Cap Blank: Replacement Parts

It was very easy for me to install this door on my 2012 Dodge Laramie 3500 truck. In addition to the nuts that come with the small screws, I installed 2 bunny ear nuts to attach to the provided nuts so they don't knock over over time. The only downside to this door is the cheap locking system that comes with it. I have a 2003 5th wheel and the outside doors on it have the same lock keys. However, I am sure that this lock can be changed (which I will eventually). Otherwise it fits my carโ€ฆ

Good product. Looks great on my truck

Great product. Looks very good on my truck. The only difficulty was getting it onto the truck. Took me more than 5 hours to figure it out. Will not fully fit a Dodge Ram 09 6ft bed. Had to remove the gas tank trunk lid and the top hole did not match. I had to get various screws and gaskets, only 3 screws attaching it to the sash frame. From a distance it looks fantastic, up close it's off-center on the tank opening and completely flush with the tank cap surround. The full reason for buying this

This is a very good product and if I followed the instructions

This is a very good product and if I followed the instructions the installation time would have been around 30-45 minutes. Read the manual a few times, your truck will be explained and will work fine. OK, the first thing I did to get the RIGHT one better centered was I used a small metal file with a rat's tail to slightly enlarge the factory holes in the RIGHT truck. This way you can move your device to a cheaper location. I then removed the gas cap (Big Hands) so I could put the small washerโ€ฆ

Looks good, be patient when installing

This fuel door is a great modification that I was able to add to my 2008 Expedition with patience and care in under an hour. (I have included photos of my project in the product images for reference.) There are two styling options for this truck; The 6950 you're looking at right now, and the 6050, which looks more like a Steve McQueen "Bullitt" with torx screws around the edge of the door ring (also called racing style I think). The 6950 had a more finished and retro look and I didn't want toโ€ฆ
