AlphaTRAK 2 Blood Glucose Test Strips - 50 Count Review

The strips worked great except about 2 of the first 25 didn't work. I bought the alphatrak 2 for my cat on the advice of the vet because she said it was a great machine and you only need a minimal amount of blood to get it going. It is true. The car came with 25 stripes. Little did I know that once they were gone I would have to pay $1 a strip. Since then I've come to the conclusion that there are machines that are just as good but the strips are half the price. I will throw this machine away…

I will embark on the same issue as the other reviewers in terms of price! The product is excellent but the price is ridiculous. Abbott's human test strip version, the Freestyle version, is only $30 at Revain. These are the same strips but I believe the only difference is that the pet strips are individually tested for quality. I think that gives them the right to raise the price. These strips are overpriced and the results are far from reliable. I burn 3 strips way too many times to get ONE result. I keep getting crazy high or crazy low (sometimes both) readings on these strips so I then test a control solution which confirms accuracy, repeat the test on my asymptomatic dog and get a VERY different result - sometimes 300-400mg/day l. dL difference.
