You have no idea until you loosen the pinky toe

I met the Altra rep at REI and immediately denounced the guy. He kept up and showed me the anatomically correct foot and explained the importance of a wider toe. I tried on a pair and loved it. IF you haven't bought a pair of Altras yet, you're missing out. I walk, run and do a lot of sports. BUT I also wear business casual and these shoes go great with crisp jeans or khakis.

Pros
  • Lightweight and comfortable to wear
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other sneaker brands.

Great look, comfortable shoes!

Great looking shoes! Pretty comfy right out of the box and almost walked across town in just a day. The outer sock is a little tighter than other Altra running shoes, but still very comfortable. The only thing I don't like is the skeleton on the sole - it's too gothic for my taste and leaves skeleton marks on the pavement after a walk in a puddle, haha.

Pros
  • Ideal for athletes involved in a variety of sports such as running, hiking and hiking.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people with plantar fasciitis.

Serious durability and minor comfort issues

I'll preface this by noting that the shoe looks amazing and at a 7.62 walk on the AT (6/6/2020) the look has held up pretty well. I did NOT purchase these with the intention of using them for everyday hiking and that was not the case. I've worn them around town, on short walks in Atlanta, and to the grocery store. I was moderately concerned that the totally unstructured heel would cause issues, but it had no real ill effects. However: Cons A: While riding (as another reviewer noted) these shoes

Pros
  • Available in different sizes to ensure the perfect fit
Cons
  • The shoes have hard plastic tags that dig into the foot.

Pros
  • The flexible outsole encourages the foot's natural movement, improving comfort and stability.
Cons
  • Shoes are too bulky and awkward to wear

Comfort out of the box

I wanted to like her, but I ended up liking her. The canvas is breathable and lightweight, and the sole is lightweight with enough cushioning for walking. Too bad they were discontinued.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Periodicity

An indispensable item for everyday life.

These shoes got to me quicker than expected. The company worked quickly, friendly and uncomplicated. If you're looking for typical Altra shoes, this isn't it. But it's still a great shoe. The sock is a typical comfortable Altra sock. But there is no comfort in shoes, maybe if you put your own insoles. If you need arch support, there isn't much out there. I don't need arch support, but I feel like it's missing. Get proper insoles if you intend to use them for running or walking. This is a fun…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Reliability

Altra in Men's Best

This shoe doesn't offer the comfort you would normally expect from an Altra and it's definitely not a shoe for workouts or leisurely walks. Was hoping for more.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • ill thought out

OK with some issues

Great minimalist shoe. Nice. Two complaints: Long rides make the heel uncomfortable and lack durability. I do have some lining in them that hasn't given me any problems yet, but I've only had them for a few months. good boot.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Too dumb

Great Altra product amidst major quality issues with other Altra products

These are my favorite hiking shoes. I have no idea why they were ever advertised as running shoes, so that description is a headache. However, they are very comfortable and look decent for everyday use. I've had Altra sneakers for a long time, so I tried this everyday model and I'm very satisfied; and I want to buy them again, BUT I'm concerned about growing quality control/consistency issues with Altra as my girlfriend and I have had large variations in the quality of our sneakers recently…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price

Very happy with this unique shoe

Bought as a casual shoe for the new casual office dress code. These were my first Altra shoes and the toe box is really roomy and comfortable. I love that they are constructed with no added/extra material so the shoe packs down easily (i.e. packs very small). Combined with a style that works in a variety of conditions, this is a great shoe for travel. Thin soles with minimal cushioning so may not be suitable for heavy walking/hiking. However, I am very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Comfortable

Great footwear for foot health and outfits for day and night.

I bought this shoe for my dad because he needs a wider toe box for healthy feet and he loves them. They look classy and quite classy for this type of shoe. He usually wears them as casual shoes when going to a reasonably pleasant event and/or going out. The bottom of the shoe is very flexible, which is very important for foot health. Overall a great shoe and is holding up well.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Legacy

The Altra designers have some serious gaps.

Altra seems like a good company, they make shoes with anatomical toes and zero drop. Big. But this is the second pair of shoes I've bought from them and had to return because the sole would NOT flex. Hey guys, nobody cares if your shoes fit you as long as you're walking on a wooden board.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Good but not great
