Excellent clay for small projects, air dry

This is excellent value for money and dries very hard although drying time varies. I noticed very little cracking in the hard pieces. I make small figures and after drying I cover them with white acrylic paint and then complete them with paint and ink. I would suggest that if you want to create larger pieces, hollow them out. Great buy so stop reading this and get creative!

Good for a student. More tone than I expected.

My son (high school student) used this for a class project. He made a flower "candle" about 8 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick with 1/2 high lips on each of the 10 "petals". He only needed about 1/4 cardboard. It took 2 days to fully dry and he had to turn the "flower" over several times. Then he sprayed it, let it dry overnight, and then sprayed it red. He then poured melted wax over the petals to create 10 connected "candles". Clay worked well for this project and was fairly durable. He…

There is more pottery clay than sculpting

Lately I've been working with some air-drying clay because I don't have a kiln at home, unfortunately this clay was definitely not suitable for modeling. Now I have 5 pounds of clay that I can't use. I only sculpt faces/masks and other figures and it was impossible to get this clay to do fine detail. I suppose using a wheel or gable molding would work great! . I'm not the best potter so they look like a 5th grade art project but it was fun. I painted them and then glazed them to make them last…

DYI Lamp Base Replacement

I used it as a ballast for the base of two lamps, a reading table lamp and a floor lamp. The inner plaster of the base is both cracked and crumbled. Even expensive lamps these days have plaster of paris instead of the heavy iron inlays they used to have. With age or when they are knocked over, the plaster crumbles like sand and in the end there is a lamp that can no longer stand. Not wanting to throw away very beautiful lamps, I tried this tone. The YouTube video suggests using Quikcrete…
