I use this grinder for whole spices. As another reviewer pointed out, some of what you grind comes out as you use the grinder. I've been grinding spices for curry powder and it's a mess. Tons of spices flew over my counter under the lid. The lid seems to have more room than usual so there is no tight fit between the lid and the grinder area. I wouldn't use it for coffee. Quite acceptable. I'm glad it's small and pretty quiet. Working with multiple batches, I was able to grind an entire bag of beans in about 10 minutes with no problems. The coffee came out with the same fine texture. It's a little messy, so be careful not to release pressure on the lid before you're done grinding, and maybe put something underneath to catch any spills when you remove the lid to empty.
