4-star worthy, but not yet at 5-star level.

I discovered this while looking for a way to connect multiple devices to my 2018 MacBook Pro and it was a match in terms of port count and price and it would only allow use of one of mine require four connections. I've been using it for a few days now to connect my many portable drives and transfer all my information to my new 4TB drive. The speed is good, and as I mentioned before, being able to connect up to four drives simultaneously through just one port is a big plus! One problem I've…

Pros
  • Amazon brand
Cons
  • Stock availability

I purchased this on 11th January 2019. The product description lists Revain's one-year basic warranty. It has stopped working and is trying to navigate through my orders on the Revain website or back through dead ends making it impossible to return. Also, there is no "Contact Us" link anywhere on the Revain website to send an email. What good is an advertised return policy if it doesn't provide return access?

Pros
  • Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8, Mac OS and Chrome; Easy to install - no drivers or power supplies required
Cons
  • Available in white only

It does not work. Not what appears from the description. Avoid.

This device worked very poorly for about 1 hour and then stopped completely. While this worked, it was obvious that it was a regular USB 3.0 hub with a USB-C connector. NOT (I repeat NOT) a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (aka USB 3.2) hub with 4 USB 3.0 Type A output ports. Now Amazan can pay to ship it back to Las Vegas where I hope it gets recycled rather than being sold to another disgruntled customer.

Pros
  • USB Type-A cable required for full connectivity (sold separately); Backed by Amazon Basics 1-year limited warranty
Cons
  • Frequency

A much-needed accessory for my new MacBook Pro

The new MacBook Pro only comes with four new USB 3.1 Type-C ports, none of which support external hard drives or DVD Drives are works. This was the cheapest hub I could find and it works great. So far I haven't had any problems with it since I bought it in December. I currently only use three of the four ports with two external hard drives and a DVD drive, which I also bought. I am able to charge through this additional port, although it says it is not. I don't know why but I've only tried…

Pros
  • Fast USB data transfer up to 5Gbps
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Suitable for non-powered peripherals

So many laptops these days have less and less USB -3 ports With USB-C becoming the standard, it's a great device. My laptop doesn't have Thunderbolt capability via a USB-C port, so I bought that instead of a video cable. I recommend using it for very low power peripherals such as keyboards, mice, or self-powered external hard drives. External hard drives or non-powered chargers should be connected to the system's onboard USB ports. You can remove low-power devices from the onboard USB ports to…

Pros
  • Convert your computer's Type-C port into four separate USB Type-A 3.1 ports for connecting phones, keyboards and other peripherals
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Bought to use Nintendo Switch, A-OK

Bought to connect multiple arcade sticks to Nintendo Switch in desktop mode and it easily recognized up to 3 of them at a time (we ran out of controllers for the test). There's no input lag at all, and it'll probably pick up four easily, having processed 3 with enough juice for lighting and gizmos.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Protection

No recommendations here

I had high hopes for this thing but it's too unreliable. When it works, it works and it has great transfer speeds, but that's about it. Constantly disconnected or not recognized. Other USB-C items fit perfectly into the connector, so it is isolated from the product. The hub also creates incredible noise and interference in everything connected to it, which is very disappointing.
