Well built. Easy way to add a second M.2 NVMe SSD

I used this to add an existing M.2 NVMe SSD that I have. My mobile device only has one M.2 slot, so this was a great way to use my spare PCIe 2 x16 slot. The case is well built and contains everything you need for both single-sided and double-sided M.2 cards. I have a single sided SSD so I used a blue cooling pad/tape to cool the front and back. However, I cut the cooling pad to fit ONLY the CPU while using the entire second blue pad on the back. The reason for this is that NAND tends to get…

Works surprisingly well!

2 of these work well in an older Ivy Bridge based system with 1TB WD SN750 Black SSDs. The system booted and Windows was recognized immediately without any BIOS settings or drivers - installation is extremely easy. One drive was installed first with no thermal pads and a case/radiator shroud, and the other with a full sandwich of pads. and case/heatsink to see if there was a noticeable temperature difference between them. It turns out to be a very large temperature difference between the two…

Works amazingly well!

This is a really special item that X-79 enthusiasts like me will love. If you know anything about this, you know that the X-79 had code built in for M2-NVME but was never implemented. (with one notable exception) Most people have given up pursuing such a goal. Most interfaces do not work properly and sometimes not at all. This baby works like a charm and doesn't require any additional drivers or the need to use legacy mode or anything like that. The design is very well thought out, the…

Works as advertised

Let me start by saying that computers are my hobby. That being said, I made the mistake of replacing a 1TB Intel Optane M.2 16GB HDD with a 1TB WD Black M.2 SSD. I didn't understand what Intel Optane was so I swapped it out one for one. My motherboard only has one M.2 key slot so I swapped two thinking it was fine. It didn't feel that good so I bought it after berating myself for my mistake and unfortunately for me it would have required a deeper dive. I decided that after cleaning the old hard

Great quality for the price and PCIe 3.0 x16!

Honestly, this adapter is a lot better than I thought it would be. It looks great in my PC. 10/10 highly recommended, especially if you have a red theme in your tower! Notes: Install thermal greases on BOTH sides of your NVMe! You will use the blue ones if your NVMe does NOT have chips on the back of the board. If so, use red. The difference is how thick the thermal pads are. Their goal is to insert NVMe between the aluminum chassis. If there are chips on the back of your NVMe circuit board…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

This is a great little NVME adapter board, it's nice and compact so using it in smaller form factor cases where there isn't much headroom works perfectly. I like that the aluminum case is fully enclosed around the drive, allowing for better heat dissipation, as well as the ability to mount a small fan on top if you wish (something not included or intended, but I've found that a small fan can do this (just install 2 screws on the back and push down the air on the sides of the unit) I like the…
