The best hitch lock

This hitch lock is serious. Even the key that opens it is a beast. If you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a trailer, why not make sure nobody takes it? Sure, this thing is expensive, but it's by far the most secure hitch lock I've come across. Any lock can be picked, but the idea is that it takes more time and noise than a thief would want to risk to pick this thing. Thieves will take an easier target and leave your target alone at the sight of an amperlock.

I laughed when I saw the price of this thing.

I laughed when I saw the price of this thing. Then I read a review about this being the lock you buy after your first trailer is stolen. I just paid a bunch of bucks for a new trailer and what, I'll block it for 20 bucks. Trailer theft is huge where I live from what people have told me. I don't really see a way to defeat this monstrous castle and still use the trailer. If stealing is absolutely impossible - do not get confused with cheap stuff. That's the real deal.

Pros
  • Best in its niche

A secure lock that is very easy to pick

I made the mistake of losing my lock key and without the key code you cannot order a replacement from amplock. Unfortunately, the lock had to be drilled out. This is where my moment of shock and awe happened. I used a cheap cordless drill and a port freight bit ($20 on sale) and was able to stick the bit in the keyhole, drill for 30 seconds, and the lock broke. That's all. It was very quick and amazingly quiet turning this lock off. I think the average criminal might miss the lock because it…

Reliable and safe product.

This item gives you peace of mind that your trailer is safe. At least from the fact that someone will pull up and drive away with your trailer in a few seconds. It will take some time and heavy equipment to remove this lock. Your customer service is top notch. The one I received was a bit loose for my liking so when I called they told me how to adjust it or if I wanted to send it back, they did it for me. Then they came by to make sure I was happy and that the lock fit. For the price, I…

Nice strong lock - durable and easy to use

This thing is pretty strong - strong, heavy, durable. It's easy to use and seems very secure. I looked at many cheaper, more fragile trailer locks before deciding to buy something that would last and I'm glad I did. I combine this with another hitch lock for maximum security - you can move it a bit more if you pull the release handle so I wanted to prevent that. My theory is that anything that makes a would-be thief spend a few more minutes fighting them makes my trailer a less attractive…

Fort Knox Trailer Locks

I'm a contractor and have two locked trailers, each with lots of valuable tools. I also bought many different types of locks that turned out to be junk. You definitely get what you pay for with this lock: reinforced trailer security, peace of mind, and a hellishly monstrous lock tank that will laugh in the face of any thief trying to smack or break it with their little grinding toys. play with. I should have bought this a long time ago! Any other castle significantly cheaper than this one can…

Warning. Before purchasing, contact the manufacturer and speak to them about the specific lock you need for your trailer. I thought I had done my due research and ordered the correct lock, but I was wrong. The lock came and it didn't fit my 2 5/16 ball hitch for my trailer. I contacted the manufacturer because I read that you can make adjustments if it doesn't fit properly. After speaking to a company rep and texting her with a photo of my hitch, she informed me I had bought the wrong one and…

Lock Massive & Formidible

When we bought our trailer a year ago I fitted a yellow hitch lock to it. The pendant is kept inside and I felt safe. However, I've heard of trailer theft recently, and while nothing happened at our facility, I've begun to question our locks. A quick Google search convinced me that the padlock we were using was nothing more than a yellow decoration. My choice fell on AmpLock or a clutch lock from Proven Industries. Both are impenetrable heavy metal, but I think the puck lock mechanism is the…

THIS IS THE LOCK YOU BUY AFTER YOUR FIRST TRAILER IS STOLEN

, CCTV showed my caravan was stolen in LESS than 4 minutes. Master Lock's padlock, hitch lock and THE CLUB 491 tire lock were compromised, the trailer was hitched and they set off with a $16,000 load, with a trailer costing $9,000. (Trailer insurance covers the trailer, but you must have home/renters insurance to cover the contents; oops.) The rest of the trailer was found and billed as an amount. There are GPS trackers for trailers on the market that are valid for 5 years. Battery life that…
