Great value for money

I wasn't sure if it would work well given its low price. Tested with many different coolant concentrations and it was damn accurate.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • No instructions

works best in refractometers

although it reads a negative temp I really have no idea if it's really right but you use water and it's all blue showing bad glycol levels and i pour new glycol in the block and it shows -50 so i am happy with the results? Easy to use and there is a U-tube to use.

Pros
  • don't waste too much time
Cons
  • makes me angry

Don't kill your 6.7L with the rear DEF

Fixing a BAD DEF that is obsolete can cost you $2000. To make sure I wasn't adding that crappy DEF to my 6.7 liter truck, I bought this unit to make sure it had a good DEF. It's pretty darn easy to use and every time I fill up I check the DEF with this refractometer to make sure it's still good.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Found very accurate compared to other devices

Purchased primarily to test battery specific gravity. As you can see from the results, this compares to other $100-$300 devices. Would buy again. The only thing that bothered me was the lid for the liquid, otherwise I was very satisfied.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Medium

Ease of use on analytical tools

Great tool, I don't have an easy way to check accuracy but I'm working on it. The unit was factory calibrated when tested with deionized water. I really like the feel of the device, it's not just plastic but it looks and works well. Especially since it's half or better than the price of some other devices.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Great price for such a versatile tool

I use it all the time to make sure the DEF I buy is the right concentration. There are stories of people buying DEF, using it, and returning water containers, which can result in costly repairs. I also use it to check the specific gravity of my RV batteries and to check the coolant protection level.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Uses Metric (Celsius)

At the very top of this product's description on Revain it doesn't say anywhere that it is in degrees Celsius. It shows pictures in Celsius and in the description below. I was very disappointed having already ordered and used it. We don't normally use the metric system in the US, and when we write a diagnostic for a customer's car, it's a bit tedious and takes time to convert. Yes it's my fault and the product works as intended but the description should be changed or just not sold in the US.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Check the calibration before using it.

I mainly use this for DEF. As with all modern diesel engines, this is where most of the problems arise. The first trucks I used it on showed 35% DEF. Which is a bit too high. So I checked the calibration and I'm sure. It has not been reset. Next to. It works as described. But then again I only used it for DEF.

Pros
  • Check, measure and check
Cons
  • Not sure

Good value for money

I bought this to test the quality of some DEF that I thought had been diluted with water. This device was very useful and easy to use. For the price I think it will be hard to beat and given its ability to test antifreeze and batteries I'm sure it will be used for more than just DEF. It comes in a nice case with several sample pipettes and the quality of the instrument is much better than I expected.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Slightly torn
