Center drill bit base set. All tips looked properly sharpened. I tried to manually drill all of the dots into the plastic wrap and they all cut out a nice even curl of the material. They are machined from solid (M2) steel. Rated durability is average as I don't have enough holes to rate it higher. I would buy them again from this seller.

Ideal if you want to place your work in the dead/live center (hence the 60 degrees). I've only used them on brass and aluminum so far, but they seem to cut well. However, I prefer spot drilling when I start making holes. A spot drill with a larger angle than the drill will keep the drill more centered. Most drills have an angle greater than 60 degrees. So when using these center drill bits to start holes, you may have trouble deflecting your drill bit.

This item arrived with about half the cutting edges on the five center drills clearly blunt. This was presumably either because they crashed into each other during shipping in poorly designed packaging, or because they were dumped in a trash can at a manufacturing facility along with 500 other center drills. I don't care why, but if the supplier who packs them reads this, they can reduce returns by using a piece of foam (in a plastic container) big enough to hold the individual center drills…

1/4 inch breakage in mild steel. Now I know you must be thinking that this guy is an idiot and doing something stupid. Fair enough... But it was mild steel and the tip broke a bit right away.
