These filters fit well and aren't entirely useless, but they've definitely come up short over the past few years. Previously, these filters were filled with activated carbon; now they are not even half full. See photo. Even shaking the filter to distribute the activated charcoal more evenly does not provide full coverage. I would buy another brand if I could find one that would fit my tank.

I'm tired of changing these filters. They are unlikely to serve at most two or three days when the brochure says much more. in any case it is obvious that the amount of activated carbon inside does not cover the entire surface of the filter and if it is a transport problem, ie powder movement, the finish is wrong and inefficient. I will no longer be ordering this product and I really might return to my local store.

Received this product direct from Aqueon. While everything fits normally and cleans the water, the filter itself appears to be thicker. It's a matter of design, not quality. The entire filter is 1/8-1/4" thick. Given the cost per unit if they added more mechanical filter media or activated carbon or both. I have been using these filters for a long time. Received 2 packs with the order (of course after the return period has expired). I am so disappointed with these filters. I only received them on March 7th. I ended up having to completely change the Wawr twice in both of my tanks. Once 1 gallon, once 2.5. I wish these filters had a little more carbon. If you pull one out of the packaging you will see that there are empty sections for the water to flow through without being filtered. They are good for picking up leftover food, waste and any chunks that contaminate the water. I wouldn't trust this thing to filter my drinking water, but it's designed for an entry-level tank, which is what I have.
