Great for country roads - modifications may be needed during installation

Love it! We have a very long way to go and often receive small packages that are sent back to the post office because they did not fit in our previous mailbox. Definitely the most beautiful/best mailbox of its size. We installed on a 4x4 rack and covers from Lowe's. We had to make a few modifications (drill extra holes) as only 4 screws weren't strong enough. Overall very impressed and a must for those with a long drive!

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • A few little things

Badly done!: Hardware

Love the shape and the size. The way the door is attached is beautiful, tacky. A small pin and a tiny cotter pin. The door just opens. Many have complained but nothing has been done. Also, I can see daylight behind the back of the mailbox. So I paid $70 for a mailbox to fix the door and tape the back of the box. I welded the mounting plate. It's too small for the box so I can't securely attach the mailbox to the post. I'm not impressed! No, I do not recommend this product.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No instructions

wonderful big mailbox; Holds both boxes and letters

This mailbox is fantastic. I searched for a long time until I found this one. I needed a sturdy, large mailbox that could hold many Revain mailboxes in addition to regular mail. This mailbox looks very nice from the street and I expect it to last for years. I also ordered a metal bar which I installed in Quikcrete/Sakcrete. The mailbox attached perfectly to the post (which had a flat plate at the top) without an adapter.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Unreliable

Warning - know your message size

The mailbox looks well built, hence five stars for the quality. The problem is using it with an existing mailbox rack. The company will sell you the required mounting plate BUT this plate will only work with 4x4 rack mounts. This renders a quality product useless for any other rack size; unless of course you buy your own postage from one of the manufacturers. I know what I called the company, it's a shame it should be easy to make a docking plate that can accommodate other rack sizes. a rack…

Pros
  • Test results are stable
Cons
  • There are flaws

Excellent mailbox except for cotter pins

Bought and installed this box about a year ago. Two days ago one side of the door was loose when opened and yesterday we went to fix it and the other side came out of the "hinge". We dug around and found two contacts (yes, stainless steel) in the grass. One still had a piece of definitely NOT stainless steel cotter pin securing this sturdy mailbox and door and connecting pins. The pins rusted within a year. Now that's built-in deprecation! It may be nice in Arizona, but these cotter pins don't…

Big, well made, installation was pretty easy.

A very large mailbox, in principle our old mailbox could be eaten up completely. I used the mounting bracket at https://www.amazon.com/Gibraltar-Mailboxes-Universal-Mounting-PLMB0060/dp/B000CSN584/ which worked fine except I needed washers to screw the mailbox to the bracket , because the holes in the bottom of the mailbox were too big for the screws that came with the mounting plate. As other reviewers have said, the back may need embossing; I can see some light getting through but no leaks so

Pros
  • Super for me
Cons
  • Protection

Postmaster wanted - good quality

After owning a post office box for several years, I was finally able to convince my husband to let me have a post office box. The postmaster told me that this is the one I was "ordered" to buy because it has to fit in a large flat rate box. Well, let me tell you, this thing is huge. I can't believe how huge it is but I think times have changed. I was worried it would look ridiculously huge at the end of my driveway, but it's actually not bad. I went for the pewter color and it's a very nice…

Great big mailbox, except for one.

I was looking for a HUGE mailbox to store incoming and outgoing mail so I wouldn't leave mailboxes on the ground in the rain or snow and this mailbox was the biggest I was able to find and meet my needs. I've had this mailbox for almost a year (mid-October would be the year), everything was great until a cotter pin broke on one side in July of this year. I contacted Architectural Mailboxes about a doorknob assembly failure. I couldn't buy the builds on their website as they said they were out…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok
