Untenable. suitable for radio

Great product! I just wish the radio on/off knob didn't turn so easily. I accidentally turned the radio on a couple of times because the rotary switch wasn't as tight as it should be. However, I am happy with my purchase. Edit from 03/01/2014: The rotating mechanism no longer charges the battery. The radio lasts no more than 5 minutes. Only a couple of times I didn't use the product and the spinner that is supposed to charge the device broke. From my point of view, a piece of junk.

Good backup power for your phone.

Great item. The radio works very well, the flashlight is good and bright. I use it as an extra phone charger when I need to make important calls. However, charging a phone without a working cell requires constant, gentle twisting of the grip. And if the screen lights up while the phone is charging, just forget about it. You have to turn off your phone almost completely to charge it with the crank. But if you need to make an emergency call, you can.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Slightly torn

So cool I have two!

I love this product! I got one from Viggle for free as a points earning item, but I liked it so much I bought another from Revain. We often have power outages here in the country and it's amazing how much you miss the noise (like on TV) during a power outage. I love it for the regular radio but the weather radio almost tunes itself in, it sounds so clear it's a miracle in itself as I'm very rural. The flashlight works great and lasts forever with just a few turns of the handle. Hope my two…

Get ready for your workout!

I already had a flashlight, but I wanted something to charge my phone - Samsung Galaxy Note 1. So I'm afraid that the device will fail horribly. The manual says 7 minutes scrolling == 5 minutes talking. Even spinning like a madman, with the phone off, I couldn't get enough battery power to boot up the device and stay awake. There is a way to make the USB cable just for charging to increase the power output. If you know about electronics, check this out on YouTube. A few holds will give you…

Great handheld radio, charger and flashlight combo

I have bought several of these for myself and my family. A few weeks later the power went out and the tornado clock appeared. We could hear the weather report and find out what was going on. Highly recommended to all! This product charges within minutes by turning the crank. I guess five minutes on the handle is half an hour on the radio or flashlight. It has a super bright LED flashlight. It features an AM/FM and weather radio with speaker and headphone jack. It also features plugs for…

My mother gave me one for my birthday.

It's something I've dreamed of for many years and last December when my mum gave it to me I said I could actually use it if the power went out during Hurricane Sandy. It contains the essentials that are needed in an emergency. AM/FM/weather radio, LED flashlight and a way to keep your cell phone on. It has a lithium battery, unlike cheaper devices that only have rechargeable NiMH batteries. The device has a built-in generator so that the radio, light and cell phone charger can work…

Great gadget for keeping in roadside emergency kit

A few years ago read the reviews and bought one for each car including my parents car. Thought it would be a good idea to stay close in case of an emergency; well, finally needed; twice. We pulled them out when Hurricane Matthews hit North Carolina. The ability to boot it up and charge yourself or other USB powered devices was invaluable, and we found the need to use it about 18 months ago when we had slight wing camber in upstate New York. Drawn mostly for the possibility of a flashlight, but…

Bought as a gift. The recipient loves it!

Bought as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. He just LOVES it and really just uses it to listen to the radio all the time because he loves it so much (maybe I'll have to buy us a second one for legitimate hikes :p). I can not go too deep into it . Detail because it stays with him but I can say that it is well made, has a beautiful design and is effective. He said he just turned it on for a few seconds as a test and was able to listen to the radio for an ungodly amount of time. Needless to…

Exceeded Expectations

I bought one of these Red Cross Eton Rover wind up radios primarily because I needed a crank operated NOAA band radio. The LED flashlight is a plus. A cell phone charger could be great (there is a standard USB port and a mini USB port protected by a rubber stopper so the USB cable to charge my phone fits securely) but I haven't tried charge my phone with it. Nevertheless, I give this radio a full 5 stars. Why? Bought 2 1/2 years ago. When I first got it, I turned it on to make sure it worked…
