Really get the speed you pay for

This applies to the (32x8) Docsis 3.0 model as Amazon tends to pool reviews and makes it impossible to tell which is for what. Use this as it removes the telephony connector. At this point, however, just get a MagicJack device or something similar and save money that way. I've installed about 4 of these so far until my friends and neighbors complained that their xfinity modem box (docsis version 3.1) kept dropping out and they're not getting the speed they pay for. This simplifies the data…

Pros
  • 1 Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting to a Wi-Fi router or other device.
Cons
  • Minor issues

DO NOT BUY defective Intel Puma 6 chipset

I've had this device since August 2018, I had firmware 9.1.93N and was having latency issues after upgrading to higher speeds 3 months ago (250Mbps instead of 100Mbps). I called Arris and told them about my problems and they said my ISP was causing the problems and they needed to fix it. I then called my ISP and the tech came 3 times every few weeks to check why I was still having issues and after many 48 hour ping tests the ISP said they were not on their side and that that Problem may be…

  • Compatible with major US cable internet providers including Cox, Spectrum, Xfinity and more. Not compatible with ATT, Verizon, CenturyLink, or any other DSL or fiber ISPs.

Don't buy the SB6190

I want to echo and agree with other reviewers: SB6190 only! I bought the SB6190 a little over a year ago and have just bought the SB6183 to replace my broken unit. The SB6190 ran for about 13 months without any problems and during that time I had no downtime. The modem was in a ventilated back room in my house, mounted on a wall with more than adequate airflow. For the last month my internet started dropping constantly and then disappeared. Somehow my 150Mbps connection couldn't stream 360p…

Pros
  • DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem which is best for cable internet speed plans up to 600Mbps. Easy modem setup with the SURFboard Central app
Cons
  • Can't remember, but there was something

Broke 2 years after purchase.

Update 8/31/2021: Purchased June 2019, useless until late June early July 2021 The speed of raising and lowering changed from stable to reliable for what I'm paying for to completely unpredictable. Sometimes transfer speeds were in the single digits, sometimes close to what I'm paying for, and everything in between. Never predictable and a problem for work from home, streaming services and regular PC/phone use. After hours of troubleshooting that included checking the router connected, updating
