This is a very good board. That's a good size. You can still put it on your lap if needed, although it's more stable putting it on a table. The light is even over the entire surface. The light is dimmable, but I had to read the instructions to figure out how to do it (press and hold the power button to adjust the brightness). The brightness range is also good. I bought these in August to use in my college course. I didn't use it at all until mid-September. It was nice while it lasted - the brightness was acceptable for what I needed. Sometimes the brightness level would drop suddenly even if I didn't touch the button, which was very annoying but didn't bother me. This light box (or mat, I guess) works well, especially considering its price compared to other light boxes I've tested. . There are a few small blemishes (power plug inserted at an angle, small spots on the front panel that let light through, edges of the plastic back panel are sharp/rough) but do not affect functionality.
