So I ran in the Asics Gel-1160. That model is effectively dead, and the GT-1000 and GT-2000 have surfaced as new offerings. Since I couldn't buy the old model anymore, I went to a running store and tried on a few things to test them out. I left after buying a few of these but they weren't perfect. Compared to my old Asics they are narrower. Really pretty. All of my last 3 or 4 pairs of running shoes have been Asics and they all fit perfectly (standard width models). I had to run the GT-2000…

We both have great running shoes now.

I bought this shoe for my husband because I already have it and love it. He was surprised because he didn't think he needed other sneakers. that was until he tried the GT-2000. He is now convinced that the gel sole and excellent fit of asic gel running shoes are far superior to those of other (even more expensive) brands. None of us are serious runners -- a few times a week at most, and then it's brisk or modified walking, not a real run. At our age (60 years) the strain on the back, knees and…

I like them better than the GT-21xx series -- Your mileage may vary

The ASICS GT-21xx series (2100 to 2170) is one of the best-selling running shoes in the world. I used to have a pair of GT-2120, two pair of 2150 and two pair of 2170 and loved them. I'm 50 male, about 160 pounds and use them for road running including several marathons and half marathons as well as shorter distances. This is the fourth pair of GT-2000's I've bought in just over a year. Year(*). The first pair retired after about 500 miles and the second pair is approaching the 400 mile mark…

Great shoes - sizing unreliable!

My son tried this shoe on at the store in a size 12 (D). It could have worked, but it wasn't enough. The store didn't have other sizes (2E etc) so we bought the exact same shoe from Revain in a size 12 (2E). When the boot arrived it was so tight he could barely put his foot in the boot. Luckily the Revain is great, with the Prime replacement here in two days, 12.5 (4E) fits perfectly. The moral of the story is that sizing in Asiacs is inconsistent and this is confirmed by other models we tried…

Limited shoe cushioning

I love the GT 2170 and previous versions of the shoe and Asics told me that the GT 2000 is the next version of the shoe but with some so-called improvements. . I contacted Asics after unknowingly buying a GT 1000 (horrible shoe) that had no cushioning at all. There are many reasons why people use these shoes. For me it's about 2 miles a day walking with my sore knees. The moment I got into the GT 2000 I realized that it wasn't some sort of upgrade but a cheaper version with a lot less…

great workhorse

I've worn higher priced Asics like the Kinsei, Kayano and Nimbus so I was a bit reluctant to go with the 'mainstream' model. However, the price of $50 was too high to resist, including free shipping to Singapore! To be honest, I buy sneakers for two reasons. I run regularly, 3-4 times a week, but not long distances. 6-10 km each, easy pace. I'm 43, so I'm not trying to improve anymore. I'm just trying to stay healthy and fit enough to enjoy the years to come with my relatively young children…

Asics always stands for perfection!

Took these to replace my previous Asics shoes (GT-2170) which were wearing out. I love her! They fit very well, they are nice, wide (my feet are a bit wider) and comfortable. They seem to offer great support and aside from some friction issues over long distances (which could be due to one of many factors other than just new shoes) they work great. Unfortunately, there's a new trend in sneakers to make them super ugly and colorful - apparently Asics' designers got expelled from art school while
