Not very accurate for electrics

This has some resistance or is terribly inaccurate at low voltage. Checking the reference for 5 volts reads 3 volts each time. I checked with a Fluke multimeter and a power tester. Above 10 volts it seems normal.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Working but poor internal communication

I'm a helicopter mechanic. This is great for 28v systems. The display seems ok but all the springs and solder on the end cap look bad. Lots of minimal contact crimps/tin-to-wire springs keep it working intermittently, coil wire is clothesline wire quality. If I did it again, I'd pay a few bucks more for a "better" model.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Some minor things

Terrible product. Only worked sporadically and then stopped working.

Terrible product. Only worked sporadically and then stopped working altogether. The connections inside the handle were not stable. bad contact. I took it apart because I really wanted it to work because I liked the concept, but the pins couldn't connect well. Very cheaply built.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Band

A USEFUL TOOL in a tester

Good tool for reading DC voltage quickly. Love the fact that it reads 3V - 48V! Looking closely, I noticed that the wire was simply crimped onto the terminal. I pulled out the soldering iron and made a more secure connection, but that's my personal preference. The boot that closes the clip is a little stiff, but it's not terrible. The collar looks like copper, the wire is not copper. Overall, it's great for reading the performance of fog lights, radar detectors, taillights, fuses, etc.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Have trouble

Great tool with a small improvement, ready to use.

I think it's a good tool but with two disadvantages. One of them can be solved, the other not. The problem that can be solved is the physical connection between the wire and the clamp. It just bends and twists. (See image.) There's even a hole so it can be soldered on. I went ahead and soldered mine in place and guessed that the reviewers who had problems with the cable got disconnected and no longer made a good connection. I tested several elements at different voltages and everything was fine

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok

This is one of the products where designers have ever used a test lamp. Half of my diagnostic work involves connecting a clamp to the positive source and using a probe to the negative. Sometimes you're looking for a good ground, sometimes you'll have a + and - wire and it doesn't matter which one is used to test the voltage. This device will NOT work if the clamp is connected to positive. So for you with a positive or floating bottom, this won't work at all. It does not light up or display…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Periodicity
