Ideal for removing/installing pulleys.

Without a pulley tool, most metal pulleys can take time and effort to remove, but plastic pulleys tend to snap rather than get chopped or hit. This kit easily pulled the power steering pulley out of my pump and made it easy to install the new pulley. The cost of this tool, even if it's only used once, is worth the headache and frustration of not having the right tool and potential damage to your parts. Use it more than once and it'll easily pay for itself when you avoid disappointment or hire…

Fits me fine - puller

I used this tool to remove and replace the horsepower pump pulley on my 2005 Ford Focus with a 2.0 liter Duratec engine. I had to remove the pulley to partially remove the PS pump (the pulley is blocking one of the pump's mounting bolts) so I can access the thermostat (the pump is partially blocking access to the thermostat). I was concerned that the pulley had never been removed in 14 years, but I had absolutely no trouble removing or reinstalling the pulley with this tool. I'm sure I could…

This kit fits except for the round locking sleeve.

This set is ok except for the o-ring. I removed the pulley from a mid 70's GM power steering pump. There was no corrosion on the pump or anything that would indicate the pulley would be difficult to remove. The weak part of the kit I received was the locking ring around the two halves of the puller. As I tightened the puller, the locking ring stretched, allowing the two halves of the puller to slide off the pulley. I was able to use a C clip to help the ring hold the two halves together. Next…

Good for the price. Pros should look elsewhere.

For the price, this kit does the trick. If you're a pro, you definitely need something more reliable and of higher quality. If you're like me I can use this set two more times and that's fine. The instructions are also easy to understand. You should definitely lubricate all parts of the kit that you use to prolong its life. I used assembly grease and it worked fine. When removing/installing, make sure that all components of the kit are securely fastened. I was able to remove and install the…

Easy and quick removal of power steering and other pulleys

I had an annoying power steering leak under the rear plate gasket, the pump hummed quite loudly even in cold weather due to air leaks. It's time to restore the pump. I ordered this pulley removal and installation tool and gasket kit. I had absolutely no problems. The tool smoothly removed the pulley and installed it when I was done. My pump/shaft had virtually no corrosion so no extra effort was required other than a tool. If your pump shaft is rusty, you need to clean it as best you can before

Difficult to use with the instructions included.

I've seen a lot of reviews on this and it's true the instructions are terrible. I put the instructions aside and tried to figure out how it worked myself. I have included 2 photos to show how I set it up and was able to pull out and install the power steering pulley. I was able to remove the pulley twice and install the pulley twice (made a few mistakes when reassembling), the parts still work and hopefully I won't have to do it again but if so then I have my photos. Figure 1 shows the…

Worked great for 86 chev GUR

Excellent wonderful tool. I changed the power steering on my 86. Frame p / s block, replace the dirt. The P/S pulley is secured with an interference fit, not a bolt - there are mounting bolts behind the pulley for the bracket. The pulley should come loose - and then put back on. This tool worked great! I was confused by the instructions but then I let the engineer talk to me and the reel came loose. The pulley was 350,000 miles long. I used some penetrating oil, left it on overnight and off we…
